Pre-Race: Stewart is on a roll and shows incredible speed. Carmichael has the speed but looks to be pushing hard and not riding as smooth as he pushes. Chad Reed doesn't look comfortable on the 4-stroke (what's new?) and he rolls through corners at half the speed of Stewart and Carmichael. Windham has broken arm and is out. The lites class has so many contenders it will probably be the best racing of all, with numerous winners and a close championship. It's going to be great! MN The Race: The race everyone would dream to see - after the top riders all get poor starts they catch up and Reed, Stewart, and Carmichael run up front. Carmichael takes the lead over Reed and falls, then Reed makes a mistake and Stewart gets by soon after - about half way through the main. Stewart settles in and Reed looks like he and the YZ450F are working much better together. Carmichaels bike is clearly bent and he is running about 6th, catching up slowly. Reed surprisingly still has the fastest lap near the end. LaRocco got a good start and held strong - especially with the switch to the Honda 4-stroke. MN 1. James Stewart (KX450F), 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 4. Mike LaRocco (CRF450R) 5. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) / 1. Andrew Short (CRF250R) 2. Ryan Villopoto (KX250F) 3. Billy Laninovich (CRF250R) 4. Grant Langston (KX250F) 5. Darcy Lange (KX250F) |

The Race: McGrath takes the holeshot and leads the first lap. Tedesco in third, RC about 5th after the first lap - Stewart hung up and stating from dead last after the start. RC moving up quickly. Stewart in 10th after only a few laps, Reed leading now, McGrath still second but back. RC now in third. LaRocco way back in 10th, just passed by Stewart who is moving up fast. Reed spins the bike out, it's still running - he stays in the lead. Now Reed 1st, RC 2nd, Stewart flying and now in 6th. RC chasing down Reed. RC close to Reed. Stewart gaining on 5th. Stewart now in 4th, behind McGrath. Almost half way in the race! It took 9 laps for Stewart to go from last to 4th. RC 1.09 seconds behind Reed. RC blocks Reed, passes him - then Stewart passes McGrath. Reed catching up to RC. Stewart 9 seconds behind leader with about 7 laps remaining. RC now pulling away from Reed - his race to loose. McGrath still in 4th! Positions remaining the same. Fastest lap time is RC's, Reed and Stewart times are close. 3 laps to go. RC lapping up to 9th place now. The race is nearing the end, 3 laps to go. McGrath pulling away from Wey in 5th. Checkered flag goes to RC, Reed takes 2nd, Stewart 3rd, McGrath 4th, Wey 5th. Carmichael screaming as he is supper pumped by winning - it's been a long time (for him) since his last win. He's almost over the top with emotion - it's war out there. MN 1. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. James Stewart (KX450F) 4. Jeremy McGrath (CR250R) 5. Nicholas Wey (CRF450R) / 1. Nathan Ramsey (250SFX) 2. Billy Laninovich (CRF250R) 3. Grant Langston (KX250F) 4. Ryan Villopoto (KX250F) 5. Andrew Short (CRF250R) |

A nearly epic battle between Carmichael and
Stewart. Stewart holds off Rickey for about 15 laps - with no gap between
the riders - very exciting!. With two laps to go Stewart pushes the front
wheel while approaching a down rider and falls over in a tall berm. Rickey
and Reed pass him to take first and second. McGrath switches to a 4-stroke
and looks great - finishing 5th. Vuillemin holeshots the main after also
switching to a 4-stroke. Reed is looking stronger every week. The leaders
say the track was fast and easier. Tell that to most of the Lites class
who were bouncing off the rev limiter to clear some of the jumps. Langston
finally gets a good start and shows what he can do - he looked great. MN 1. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. James Stewart (KX450F) 4. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 5. Jeremy McGrath (CRF450R) / 1. Grant Langston (KX250F) 2. Andrew Short (CRF250R) 3. Nathan Ramsey (250SFX) 4. Billy Laninovich (CRF250R) 5. Sean Collier (Yam) |

Steady rain through qualifying. Once it
tapered off, before the main events, the damage was done. Sticky mud,
standing water, and deep ruts actually stopping many of the riders in turn
6. In qualifying, Carmichael and Stewart win, Reed second. The program has
been shortened in an effort to preserve the track. McGrath is out early
and doesn't race his second qualifier. The final has Stewart and
Carmichael about 4th and 6th at the start. Stewart gets to the front
quickly, Carmichael won't let him slip away and does everything possible
to pass riders immediately to stay with James - just like last week at
Anaheim 2. Reed is in back, having problems - he will actually be passed
(lapped) by the leaders. In fact, the two leaders lap all the way to third
- this means there wasn't a single rider on their lap! Stewart maintains
the lead with Carmichael on his back wheel lap after lap - to where there
was just over a lap to go. Carmichael suddenly passes James, but James
double jumps the last of the bump section and keeps the inside line for
the lead. Carmichael calls it good and backs off a bit to take second.
Reed catches all the way up to 5th place for needed points. MN 1. James Stewart (KX450F), 2. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 3. N. Wey (CRF450R) 4. M. Byrne (KX450F) 5. Chad Reed (YZ450F) / 1. Stewart goes down 3 times in the first lap or
so - he has no chance to catch up. Carmichael takes the lead and checks
out. Reed has a hard time catching Tedesco in 2nd, but finally does and
pulls a small lead. This is how they finish. Stewart rides hard, stays up,
and finishes in 8th for needed points. MN 1. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 4. Mike Larocco (CRF450R) 5. Michael Byrne (KX450F) / 1. Grant Langston (KX250F) 2. The day before this event the AMA announced
Carmichael would be docked 25 points for an illegal fuel sample from the
San Diego event. Samples were also taken from Mike Alessi, Grant Langston,
Jeremy McGrath, Nate Ramsey, Chad Reed, Andrew Short and James Stewart and
were found to be in compliance. The race: Reed gets the holeshot,
Rickey about 7th, Stewart falls and starts 17th. Carmichael catches Reed
and wins, Reed coasts in for second. Stewart finishes in 3rd. Carmichael
talks like the series is over for him (he is certainly very upset) - does
he mean it? MN 1. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. James Stewart (KX450F) 4. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 5. E. Fonseca (CRF450R) / 1. J. Grant (CRF250R) 2. David Millsaps (CRF250R) 3. M. Davalos (YZ250F) 4. Branden Jesseman (YZ250F) |

Stewart falls in the first corner again,
starts in last. Catches Reed in 5th on the 5th lap. Carmichael out in the
front. Stewart still gaining and blowing by riders. Into 4th on lap 7.
Stewart cases it and goes back to 4th. Stewart trying to pass Wey for 2nd
- does it on lap 9. Reed holding his position. Reed goes into 4th.
Carmichael on cruise with a 7 second lead. Reed gets into third and this
is how they finish. MN 1. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 2. James Stewart (KX450F) 3. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 4. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 5. N. Wey (CRF450R) / 1. David Millsaps (CRF250R) 2. J. Grant (CRF250R) 3. Chris Gosselaar (KX250F) 4. Kelly Smith (CRF250R) |

Windham returns tonight! Reed is still injured
- he could be better, and he could be worse. He didn't ride a portion of
practice. Will Stewart be smart and accept a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th place
start and then ride to win? Will Carmichael continue to be fast and the
most consistent rider on the course? That would win him the championship
again. MN 1. James Stewart (KX450F) 2. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 3. N. Wey (CRF450R) 4. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 5. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 9. K. Windham / 1. J. Grant (CRF250R) 2. David Millsaps (CRF250R) 3. Chris Gosselaar (KX250F) 4. Branden Jesseman (YZ250F) 5. M. Davalos (YZ250F) |

Reed is looking a little stronger, Carmichael
is fast, Stewart is even faster - how will the mains turn out? A Honda
CRF250R sweep - until a crash on the last lap! Millsaps riding to win the
championship. / Stewart walks away, Carmichael catches Reed. They battle
back and forth some, then Carmichael pulls away in second. MN 1. James Stewart (KX450F) 2. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 3. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 4. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 5. N. Wey (CRF450R) 9. K. Stewart walks away from the pack again.
Carmichael pulls Reed easily and Reed easily holds on for third. Windham
looks better than the last two weeks and easily finishes in third. MN 1. James Stewart (KX450F) 2. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 3. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 4. K. Windham (CRF450R) 5. Michael Byrne (KX450F) 6. Carmichael a few spots back, falls before half
way. Stewart, out front and dominating, falls just before half way. Reed,
running in second, doesn't fall and retains a large lead for the win. The TV
coverage doesn't even mention Reed in their opening hype, just Carmichael
and Stewart. MN 1. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 2. James Stewart (KX450F) 3. N. Wey (CRF450R) 4. I. Tedesco (RMZ450) 5. Michael Byrne (KX450F) 6. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) / 1. Ryan Villopoto (KX250F) 2. Andrew Short (CRF250R) 3. Grant Langston (KX250F) 4. Mike Alessi (250SFX) 5. Ryan Morais (RMZ250) |

Chance of rain, after hours of rain earlier.
This could change everything - it's muddy and wet, with standing water on
the track. The qualifying sessions have been shortened. Stewart gets out
front almost immediately, Reed starts about 5th and moves up to 2nd
quickly - far behind Stewart. Carmichael gets a terrible start, near the
rear. While catching up he has to events, one of which saw him shoot off
the track in the air. He keeps it up and continues to climb to a distant
third for the finish to create a points tie. MN 1. James Stewart (KX450F) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 4. N. Wey (CRF450R) 5. Travis Preston (CRF450R) / 1.
