Reed holeshots and almost over jumps the first
triple, Carmichael 2nd, Stewart 3rd. Reed pulling out a bit, Stewart
bobbles, Rickey on his tail. Windham 17th, what's up. JS catches Reed, the
battle is on. Battling ...... passes through the whoops. Reed trying to
stay with him, passes him back a few corners later. Reed takes the whoop
line away from JS. Stewart trying to pass, almost throws it away. RC
having a few stumbles in 3rd. Already catching lapped traffic only a few
laps in. Sorby blocks reed. Stewart down hard!!! Bike cartwheels, still
running. Getting up in 3rd. 8 laps into the race. Stewart still looking to
get back into the battle. RC on Reeds tail. Stewart catching the leaders.
RC trying to pass Reed - Reed goes down - the bikes still running. Stewart
3 seconds behind RC in the lead. RC the only leader who hasn't gone down.
Tedesco down over a triple. RC checking out, Wey in 4th, Ferry 5th,
Preston 6th. RC checking out through traffic. Vuillemin 7th, Windham 10th.
RC 6 seconds ahead now. They are lapping 6th and 7th place - what a
difference in speeds on the track! Everyone having their trouble with the
track. Ferry passes Wey for 4th. 3 laps to go. Last lap, RC has 8 sec.
lead. RC will win, James and Reed lucky to even finish after their crashes
- let alone be on the podium.

No Carmichael tonight. Wey gets the holeshot
and drifts out, Stewart passes to take the lead - Reed in second. The
order then goes Ferry, Wey, Tedesco, Byrne, Vuillemin, Ramsey, Voss.
Windham 10th. Stewart already over 2 seconds in the lead. Wow, the two
leaders near a 56 flat lap time - nobody close to that as they are in the
high 59s plus. Reed isn't fading. Ferry by himself in 3rd. Stewart looses
it and almost slides out on lap 5. Reed catches and almost passes - the
race is on. Reed passes Stewart - the crowd goes nuts. Stewart STUFFS him
back big in turn 5. Ferry is now on their tail. Reed has the fastest race
lap time! Reed closing in on James again - they are running slow lap times
now. Stewart not perfectly smooth, having his problems up front. Now a 2
second gap, Windham up to 7th. Lappers slowing Reed - we're at half way.
Vuillemin in 12th for some reason, slow lap times. Reed runs a faster lap
time, but the gap is big. Reed not as smooth through some of the track,
Ferry still by himself in 3rd. Then Wey, Byrne, Windham, Ramsey, Tedesco.
A 2 + second gap with 4 laps to go, the two leaders have identical
fastest lap times. One lap to go - Reed catches the back end of Stewart!

pass on Reed while he's being interviewed after the race) 1. James Stewart (KX450F) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. Tim Ferry (KX450F) 4. N. Wey (CRF450R) 5. M. Byrne (RM-Z450) 6. N. Ramsey (KX450F) 7. K. Windham (CRF450R) / Villopoto starts about 8th, gets to 6th on the first lap. A down rider (Weimer) from the start causes a red flag ... might be the a gift to Villopoto. Lawrence and Hansen were out front, just what they needed. Weimer is going back to the line for the re-start. Villopoto hole shots, Lawrence in 9th. Grant in 2nd. Boniface who has been so strong goes down. Villopoto pulling away easily. Running order Villopoto, Grant, Davalos, Gosselaar, Adams - Lamoine in the back. The race winds down with few position changes. 1. Ryan Villopoto (KX250F) 2. J. Grant (CRF250R) 3. Jason Lawrence (YZ250F) 4. Josh Hill (YZ250F) 5. Joshua Hansen (250SFX) |
| Feb 10 | Houston, TX | Reliant Stadium |
Stewart on another planet! Reed off his mark but still
faster than the rest to take second. Windham led a bunch of laps but then
faded, looking very tired. Ferry proved he's ready to compete and fit. Where
oh where will the season take us? Will the Eastern Lites riders be as fast
as the West? Will Villopoto get his chance to smoke them all in Vegas? 1. James Stewart (KX450F) 2. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 3. Tim Ferry (KX450F) 4. K. Windham (CRF450R) 5. Travis Preston (CRF450R) 6. M. Tedesco, Reed, Stewart, Windham, Ferry. Reed scrubs and passes Tedesco in
the air. Stewart gets into 2nd a little after that on lap two. Stewart
pushing Reed. Windham trying to take third, he does it! Tedesco, Ferry,
Marsack, Byrne, Sorby. 3 laps in. Stewart closes the gap and passes, Reed
looses his drive and stays in 2nd. Vuillemin has speed but he's now in 12th

straiten the bars. Stewart now in about 8th. Stewart passes Vuillemin into
7th. Reed looking good with a 10 second lead. Still Reed, Ferry, Windham,

Things running pretty steady .. Davalos starting to push Gosselaar. This track isn't easy to pass on and there isn't much of it going on. Lawrence into third. 5 laps to go, Villopoto looking to win the West Championship tonight! Lawrence takes second. Hill chasing Gosselaar hard, almost gets him. Hill again .... doesn't get him. Villopoto takes the win and the championship! Gosselaar get a podium. Lawrence proves again he's faster than every rider except Villopoto - the laps time prove it as well. 1. Ryan Villopoto (KX250F) 2. Jason Lawrence (YZ250F) 3. C. Gosselaar (KX250F) 4. Josh Hill (YZ250F) 5. Joshua Hansen (250SFX) 6. Martin Davalos (KTM250SXF) The East Lites class begins next week! |

KW to 4th - 16 seconds back. Ferry up to 6th. Lap 10. RC catching Stewart
slowly, now 2.1 seconds back. 3rd place is now 18 seconds back - Reed 22
seconds back. Reed could get a 3rd, but that would be it unless someone
goes down. Ferry down, washes the front end. RC passes a lapper - it's
Vuillemin in 9th. Reed tracking Ted. RC getting closer to Stewart, 70,000
fans cheering. A clear track - the race is on. Reed pushing Ted at

and gets going behind RC. Stewart way back after getting the bike started.

if needed for sure. It's the same spot as they went down .... Stewart

has over a 10 second lead. Stewart 2 seconds ahead of Reed. Lots of riders
making mistakes or having problems, Reed's best lap time is nothing close
to RC and Stewart. Last lap coming up, the part timer should win another.
Stewart pissed, Reed taking none of it and shoves Stewart after the race.
Lets not forget the many stuffs Stewart has put on Reed this season with
zero retaliation. Stewart cheered and not when interviewed. RC says he got
a gift with the win. Stewart cool and collected during his interview. Reed
says he simply bumped back while passing like he's been passed by Stewart
regularly. Says he's not going to be a pushover any longer. RC sharp
enough to know and mention that he knows it's a roller coaster for his
team when he comes and goes during the season, so he's glad to get the win
for the team. He mentions it all started in Florida (where his last race
will be next week) racing on Y-zingers. 1. Ricky Carmichael (RMZ450) 2. James Stewart (KX450F) 3. Chad Reed (YZ450F) 4. K. Windham (CRF450R) 5. N. Ramsey (YZ450F) 6. D. Vuillemin (CR450R) / 1. B.
