2005 KAWASAKI KX125
Refining the bike that Bubba rode to victory
The Kawasaki KX125 competition motorcycle has enjoyed tremendous success on the racetracks of America, especially in the capable hands of racing phenom James Stewart. The Team Chevy Trucks Kawasaki racer dominated the 125 Eastern Region 2004 AMA THQ Supercross Series, winning every race he entered on his KX125. With this prestigious championship in hand – and more victories to come – the 2005 Kawasaki KX125 returns with refinements that promise to keep this two-stroke racer on the leading edge of power and performance.

The KX125 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 124cc, two-stroke single-cylinder engine and features a Mikuni TMX38x carburetor and the Kawasaki Integrated PowerValve System (KIPSŪ). KIPS varies the exhaust port height to broaden the useful rpm range for good low-end and mid-range power without sacrificing top end power. Transferring that broad range of power to the rear wheel is a six-speed transmission and chain final drive.

For 2005, the carburetor has been revised for improved low-end response after the throttle has been closed, then quickly reopened – a benefit when landing from jumps or twisting the throttle open after a tight, low-speed turn. The reed valve is also changed to help prevent heat-induced deformation under extreme racing conditions. Helping the rider to modulate the more accessible powerband is a new, low-friction throttle cable.

In addition to 2005 graphics, racers will note that the KX125 chain, clutch and generator covers feature an attractive grey stone color. The KX125 utilizes Kawasaki’s unique perimeter frame, UNI-TRAKŪ rear suspension and an inverted 48mm Kayaba fork to provide a superb combination of cornering agility and stability on rough stadium or outdoors tracks. To make this winning design even better, the front forks now have low-friction seals for smoother action throughout the stroke.

The KX125 seat is 10mm taller and flatter for improved rider mobility, and features a new high-grip top for good grip when cornering and smooth sides for transitioning from sitting to standing. It also uses urethane foam for improved comfort and durability. The KX125 tires have a softer compound and a revised tread pattern for improved handling and rider feedback. Likewise, the front disc brake has new pad materials for better rider feel and performance. Those who race their KX125 at designated events are eligible to receive support from Team Green™, Kawasaki’s amateur racing support program. Each year, Team Green provides regional support vehicles and highly trained technicians at more than 100 events, offering technical information and assistance to those who race Kawasaki products. Kawasaki also offers a comprehensive contingency program for amateur and professional riders who place well at designated events.

KAWASAKI KX100
The next step up from the mini ranks
As young riders grow taller and their skills dramatically advance, they often want a motorcycle that’s a little larger and a bit more powerful. With larger wheels and tires, longer suspension travel and more engine displacement than the KX85, the Kawasaki KX100 provides the logical step up from the mini ranks. The KX100 is powered by a liquid-cooled, two-stroke engine, with a machined finish on the bridges between the intake and exhaust ports to improve engine reliability and help prevent seizure. With a displacement of 99cc, the motor breathes through a 28mm carburetor with a crescent slide to position the needle closer to the intake ports. A large air intake cutout on the airbox and large-diameter duct to the carburetor improve airflow. Meanwhile, a carbon-fiber intake reed valve aids throttle response and a smooth-shifting six-speed transmission gives the KX100 a gear for nearly every situation on the track.

The high-tensile steel perimeter frame for the KX100 supports a specially designed gas tank that lowers the fuel load, and in turn, the center of gravity, for improved handling. Protected by Kawasaki Lime Green plastic that wears graphics to match the larger-displacement models, the frame has a slim symmetric finish and provides a comfortable riding position. Adjustable long-travel suspension at both ends helps to smooth even the roughest motocross courses. The 36mm inverted cartridge fork has compression damping adjustment capability and the UNI-TRAKŪ rear suspension system comes equipped with a shock that is fully adjustable for spring preload, compression and rebound damping. In the braking department, both front and rear discs are mounted with shoulder bolts for easier maintenance.

Those who race their KX100 at designated events are eligible to receive support from Team Green™, Kawasaki’s amateur racing support program.

2005 KAWASAKI KX85
The competitive edge for youth MX racers

The mini ranks of motocross is often where the sport’s future stars begin to shin
e brightly, and with so many young racers aspiring to become the Supercross champions of tomorrow, they must have leading-edge machinery that sets them apart from their competitors. The Kawasaki KX85 motorcycle provides the competitive edge these riders need. Thanks to its liquid-cooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder 84cc engine, the KX85 provides plenty of race-winning power. It’s equipped with high-tech features, such as an Electrofusion coated cylinder with a narrow squish band and large volume to enhance top-end power. A machined finish to the bridges between the intake and exhaust ports helps prevent seizure and improves engine reliability. Fuel delivery for the engine is provided by a 28mm carburetor that features a crescent slide to position the needle closer to the intake ports. A Kawasaki Integrated Power-valve System (KIPSŪ) and exhaust pipe capped with a KX250-style muffler contribute to the KX85’s tractable powerband, which provides control for riders of varying skill levels. A smooth-shifting six-speed transmission, hard chrome-finished shift fork ends, a thick base on the clutch basket housing and an additional bushing on the input shaft for extra durability are all features that make the KX85 shine.

The KX85 stands above the competition with its advanced chassis. It utilizes a high tensile steel perimeter frame, and a specially designed gas tank sits inside the frame, lowering the fuel load and center of gravity for improved handling - yet another design borrowed from the bigger KX motorcycles. Long-travel suspension at both ends helps to smooth out the roughest course for riders of every size and skill level. The 36mm inverted cartridge front fork has the capability of 18-way compression damping adjustment. Out back, the spring preload, compression and rebound damping are all adjustable on the UNI-TRAK rear suspension system.

KAWASAKI KX65
The starting point for young motocross racers
Motocross is a highly competitive sport, even among the youngest racers, which makes having the right motorcycle an absolute necessity. To help young motocross racers be competitive as possible, the Kawasaki KX65 motocross bike has leading-edge features, such as long-travel suspension, a high-performance two-stroke engine and six-speed manual transmission. Like its championship-winning sibling, the KX125, the KX65 is every bit a race winning Kawasaki.

A liquid-cooled, high-performance two-stroke engine powers the KX65 and features a strong, lightweight piston residing in an Electrofusion-coated cylinder. A CNC-machined finish on the bridge between the exhaust ports also contributes to better engine reliability and staves off seizures. Perfect for young riders accustomed to smaller motorcycles, the KX65 has a quick and smooth-shifting six-speed transmission with a manual clutch-actuating mechanism. A quality shift drum bearing reduces oil drainage from the transmission to the side case, and chrome finished shift fork ends resist wear and keep the KX65 shifting smoothly for years to come. The KX65 engine rests in a semi-double-cradle steel frame with reinforced tubing on the upper-main and rear-down tubes. And like its larger-displacement stable mates, the KX65’s swing arm uses the UNI-TRAKŪ linkage system, which applies progressively stiffer damping and spring rates to the single rear shock as the suspension is compressed. The shock and fork boast four-way adjustable rebound damping for optimal handling. Lightweight aluminum rims reduce unsprung weight to help improve suspension action.

Both wheels feature hydraulic disc brakes that not only provide great stopping power, but require
little maintenance and simplify wheel removal.
The slim tank, seat and side covers contribute to the KX65 motorcycle’s sleek, racy
appearance and enhance rider maneuverability. It also sports the unmistakable Kawasaki Lime
Green plastic and graphics as the larger KX motorcycles.
