2001 KAWASAKI KLX300R

2001 KAWASAKI KLX300R
Tractability and Maneuverability

The Kawasaki KLX300R combines tractable four-stroke power with the kind
of nimble maneuverability usually found only in a two-stroke motocrosser to
make this machine a top choice among off-road competitors and recreational
riders. This is the motorcycle that off-road legend Larry Roeseler rides in
selected race events and the machine that carried Team GreenTM rider Kelly
Yancey to the Women's Expert title in the 1998 AMA National Hare &
Hound Championship and the 1998 AMA Sportsman of the Year award.
Designed to be ultra-compact, the liquid-cooled 292cc engine features dual
overhead cams activating four valves atop an Electrofusion-coated aluminum
cylinder, which dissipates heat more efficiently and is wear resistant. The
engine is wrapped in a high-tensile steel perimeter frame based on the design

of Kawasaki's championship-winning KX motocross models. A 26.5° steering
angle and short wheelbase contribute to quick handling characteristics that had Dirt Rider magazine proclaiming the KLX300R as "perhaps the best steering bike on the planet."

Advanced suspension components soak up just about any obstacle found on
the trail. Both front and rear disc brakes also come from the KX line for sure
stopping power.

The KLX300R comes fully loaded with equipment to handle the rigors of trail
riding. Standard items include headlight and taillight, odometer, side stand,
hand guards to fend off brush, snail-type chain adjusters for quick rear-wheel
removal and adjustment for the O-ring chain, a U.S. Forest Service-approved
spark arrestor, a large fuel tank with reserve petcock and the KLX300R is
covered by a six month limited warranty.

For those seeking four-stroke power in a lightweight and nimble chassis, the Kawasaki KLX300R provides the perfect package.

2001 KAWASAKI KDX220R

2001 KAWASAKI KDX220R
"Performance Plus"

The Kawasaki KDX220R takes the legendary design of the KDX200 and bumps up displacement to offer 250cc-like response from the two-stroke engine in a smaller, more nimble package. Tuned for more torque, the KDX220R is designed for tighter, lower-speed riding environments like tight woods that place a premium on low-end power and nimble handling.

The KDX220Rs liquid-cooled two-stroke engine gains 18cc over the KDX200 with a 3mm larger bore. The larger displacement allows the 220R to , build power quicker and pull stronger in the low to mid-range of the powerband. To maintain the smooth power delivery that the KDX line is famous for, the Keihin 33mm carburetor on the 220R is 2mm smaller than that of its sibling. High-speed compression is also slightly reduced while porting
differences help give the 220R its highly tractable power characteristics. Power is spread over a wide rpm range due to the Kawasaki Integrated Power Valve System (KIPS) guillotine exhaust valve. Power delivery is focused toward the low to middle part of the rev range since this machine is intended to compete with larger-displacement 250cc machines. As a result, the KDX220R produces 250-like torque.

The high-tensile steel perimeter frame is based on the design of Kawasaki's championship-winning KX motocross models. Its 26.5° steering angle and short wheelbase contribute to quick handling characteristics to make the KDX220R very nimble on the trail, while advanced suspension components give the K-DX220R a smooth ride over a variety of terrain.

The KDX220R comes fully loaded with equipment to make it right at home on the trail. Standard items include headlight and taillight, hand guards to fend off brush, snail-type chain adjusters for quick rear-wheel removal and adjustment of the O-ring chain, an odometer, a rear fender bag for tools or other supplies, a U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor and a large but slim 2.9-gallon fuel tank with reserve petcock. The durable KDX220R comes with a 90-day limited warranty and is also eligible for the optional 24 or 36 month Kawasaki Good TimesTM Protection Plan.

With the KDX220R, Kawasaki offers off-road riders the performance of a larger displacement machine in a lightweight design with proven handling characteristics. With its distinctly different power characteristics, it gives KDX consumers a choice when it comes to buying a lightweight, two-stroke off-road machine.
