2008 KAWASAKI VERSYS
Big Comfort, Long Travel Suspension, and Innovative Styling:
One Versatile, Fun, Street-Savvy Motorcycle
The new 2008 Kawasaki Versys is a machine which occupies a hard to define sweet spot in the motorcycling universe. Is it a practical commuter? Long-legged urban assault vehicle? Sportbike? Light Tourer? The answer on all counts is a resounding Yes! This isn’t a niche specialist but rather a jack-of-all-trades with user-friendly versatility as one of its many charms. The 649cc parallel twin and the neutral handling and light steering chassis of the Ninja 650R sportbike made the perfect starting point for this comfortable gridlock commando. A swoopy gull-wing swingarm, long-travel inverted 41mm fork, six-spoke superbike-inspired wheels, adjustable-height windscreen and a comfortable cockpit were combined to create a motorcycle that just begs to be ridden wherever the pavement might lead.
The compact liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC, 8-valve, 649cc parallel twin engine was modified for the Versys motorcycle so it delivers smooth power that’s well-suited for off-the-line acceleration and flexible torque in the cut-n-thrust of a rider’s morning commute. This engine’s overall characteristics are entertaining for even the most advanced riders, yet predictable enough to inspire confidence in less-experienced motorcyclists.
Its suspension offers the next level in sophistication: an advanced Showa rear shock featuring a free piston and two-stage damping valves for progressive compression damping which firms significantly as the shock moves through its stroke. This allows a longer wheel travel with a feel that is initially soft like a dual sport, but firms to near sportbike levels as suspension loads escalate. Of course, this advanced shock is fully-adjustable and connected to a beautiful aluminum gull-wing swingarm that is longer than average, thanks to a short/compact engine and chassis.
Up front, the Versys suspension continues the high-tech approach with a fully-adjustable 41mm tapered-tube inverted fork that combines the best of off-road and sportbike suspension action for a stiffness balance that is a perfect compliment to the chassis settings. In addition to a more-comfortable ride, the long-travel suspension’s soft-stroke allows easy control of the chassis’ running angle by shifting the rider’s weight.
Complimenting the able suspension is the carefully designed cockpit that features a two-piece seat constructed to provide optimum comfort to both the rider and passenger. An easy-to-read and informative instrument panel allows riders to quickly scan the gauges and get their eyes back on the road. Capping off the comfort list is an adjustable windscreen that can be raised or lowered to three positions in 20mm increments.

2008 Concourse 1400 - SPORT TOURING WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Supersport performance with long-distance touring comfort
The new Concours 14 and Concours 14 ABS combine breathtaking engine performance, impeccable handling and a comfortable riding position with clean, convenient shaft drive, locking hard luggage, an electrically adjustable windscreen and a host of other features to create the most impressive long-distance, high-speed machine on the market today. An aluminum monocoque chassis, radial-mount brake calipers, inverted fork, and ram air induction are all features riders expect to find on top-of-the-line supersport machines. However, instead of riding a high-strung racetrack missile, they can enjoy these high-performance features on Kawasaki’s new Concours 14 sport touring motorcycles. They are the first representatives of an entirely new genre of high-performance motorcycle: the Transcontinental Supersport Tourer.
Because it’s a Kawasaki, the Concours 14 is naturally designed to do much more than just take a rider from point A to point B. Thanks to its sporting heritage, the new Concours 14 is not only an awe-inspiring road burner, it can also carve up mountain roads like a true supersport bike. For those riders who cross state lines the way others cross town, this machine offers more excitement than anything else in its category.
The Concours 14 may be a physically impressive machine, but as soon as riders flip the side stand up, they’ll be astonished at the bike’s lightweight feel. The confidence-enhancing ABS brake system (Concours 14 ABS) features radial-mount front calipers operated by a radial-pump master cylinder, for the superb control and powerful, reliable braking performance that continent-crossing sport riders expect. Belying its tourer-like appearance, the Concours 14’s phenomenally responsive handling characteristics make the other bikes in its category seem like transports by comparison. This provides the Concours 14 rider with a feeling of complete control for spirited, confident journeys.
In addition to an incredible level of sporting performance, the new Concours 14 has the functional touches of a Grand Touring machine. Features include KI-PASS (Kawasaki’s Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System), the first electronic authorization system in its class, and an accessory power outlet located near the cockpit for powering portable electronics, grip heaters and other accessories. There’s also an electrically adjustable windscreen, shaft drive and detachable, locking side cases, so the Concours 14 is always ready for a high-speed ride to the local hangout or that favorite spot... fifteen hundred miles away.
The Concours 14 is much more than a sportbike with tacked-on touring features; it’s an integrated high-speed touring system. Wind protection for rider and passenger is based on a supersport-style design philosophy, aerodynamically curving wind around the riders to reduce buffeting that occurs when wind curls around screens that simply “block” the wind. Additionally, maintenance chores on long-distance trips are minimized thanks to quiet and reliable shaft drive. Featuring a special four-link design, the Tetra-Lever shaft drive system significantly reduces driveline lash during sport riding and helps ensure smooth acceleration when exploiting the engine’s incredible power output. In fact, power delivery to the rear wheel is so smooth and so direct that it gives the same natural ride quality as a chain.
The Concours 14’s touring prowess doesn’t stop there. The included hard luggage features a slim, integrated design which mounts the cases closer to the machine’s centerline for excellent mass centralization. Sensors in the front and rear wheels monitor tire pressure and display this information on the instrument panel, giving riders peace of mind during two-up high-speed riding or when carving up a mountain road.

2008 KAWASAKI KX250F
Better Shifting, Improved Handling and Extra Reliability
You just can’t argue with results. Kawasaki’s KX250F motorcycle has been a dominant force in professional supercross and motocross racing over the last two years. Now, this world-beating machine gets even better, with a host of refinements offering improved shifting, quicker handling and boosted reliability.
The KX250F was a model of speed and consistency throughout the 2007 AMA Supercross Lites seasons, sweeping both the AMA West Region Supercross Lites and East Region Supercross Lites championships plus the National Arenacross titles. Now, the lessons learned on the racetrack come home to roost in the 2008 machine.
New crankcases provide increased rigidity in the areas surrounding the crankshaft, transmission input and transmission output shafts to transfer torque more-efficiently and improve overall durability in the toughest race conditions. A new shift lever, positioned three degrees higher, offers a finer spline pitch so that it can be adjusted more accurately and provides more-positive shifting.
To compliment the increased longitudinal rigidity introduced on the 2007 KX250F’s frame, the 2008 model features new engine mounts which use a 10mm longer spacer to reduce torsional rigidity. This new chassis rigidity balance provides even quicker steering, better rider feel and a boost in rear wheel traction.Subtle suspension refinements improve suspension feel, turning response and bottoming resistance. These changes include smaller air passages at the top of the fork cartridges which provide an enhanced air “spring” effect for smoother compression damping, while .5mm thicker fork piston rods provide increased rigidity and smoother response through the middle of the suspension’s stroke. Updated settings in the rear shock provide a smoother mid-stroke response to compliment the changes in the front fork valving, while a slightly higher ride height provides quicker handling and a more aggressive feel.

2008 KAWASAKI KX450F
Refined Power Delivery for Improved Holeshot Performance
A host of improvements make the 2008 Kawasaki KX450F motocrosser easier to ride and more reliable than ever. A newly-revised powerplant and improved shifting highlight the improvements made to the dominant AMA and World Supercross GP Championship winner.
With little doubt about the ample power of the KX450F, the 2008 engine received smoother, more user-friendly and linear low-rpm throttle response and torque delivery. These changes result in reduced fatigue, allowing riders to go faster for more laps. The improvements were achieved with new wedge-shaped crank webs, combined with a new heavier flywheel, resulting in reduced engine vibration and better low-end performance. Reliability of the engine was enhanced via a new connecting rod material with a harder surface, a revised gear ratio and rotor on the oil pump for increased oil circulation and the piston-cooling oil jet was redesigned to prevent oil from being trapped under the piston.
The bottom end changes are coupled with a new shift cam shape and a wider track on the shift drum to permit easier and more consistent gear selection in the KX450F’s five-speed transmission. An ultra-smooth coating on the intake ports improves intake efficiency and throttle response, while revised ignition data provides easier restarting and a new five-bolt oil pump cover round out the engine upgrades.Already a great handling motorcycle, the 2008 KX450F further benefits from new engine mounts spaced 10mm farther from the engine. This allows a slight decrease in torsional frame rigidity making for quicker turning and increased rear wheel traction.
Complementing the chassis change, the Kayaba fork and shock settings were fine-tuned to improve the front / rear balance for quicker turning and slightly stiffer settings were made to improve the bottoming characteristics. The overall suspension action is even smoother now through the addition of the friction-reducing Kashima Coat treatment on the inside surfaces of the outer fork tubes and the shock reservoir.

The recreational sport vehicle world will never be the same again. A new breed has evolved with a mix of working UTV traits and sportier ATV genes — the Kawasaki Teryx 750 4x4. This new full-sized RSV is the first to have V-twin power and combines its Kawasaki heritage of efficient CVT and integrated occupant protection with superior ground clearance, cargo capacity, and sport handling to become the top performing RSV on the market. The Teryx 750 4x4 is all about recreation, yet it retains enough of its working heritage to offer amazing versatility and handy features for tackling everyday tasks.
At the core of the Teryx 750 4x4 is its strong and proven 749cc 90-degree V-twin engine, the same engine that gives the Brute Force 750 4x4 its distinguished high performance. The mid-chassis mounted engine gives the Teryx 750 4x4 a displacement and V-twin torque advantage over its contemporaries and delivers the performance that RSV customers have been seeking. Mated to the engine is Kawasaki’s superb constant velocity automatic transmission (CVT), which transfers the power from the big V-twin to the wheels smoothly and quickly. The output of the duo provides a true sport performance, yet in a controlled manner that allows the driver to harness the full potential of the Teryx 750 4x4.
Naturally, big power demands a chassis to compliment it and once again the Teryx delivers with an ideal width body – narrow enough to be useful and able to navigate the trail but wide enough to be stable and handle the healthy output from the V-twin. Its large-diameter, thin-walled tubular frame offers the necessary rigidity without performance draining weight, and all in an arrangement spacious enough to fit two adults comfortably.
The Teryx 750 4x4 shares the long A-arm and narrow frame concept of its sport brethren to give it the maximum travel while minimizing wheel camber change. Featuring adjustable Kayaba suspension with gas-charged shocks, the sport-performance focused suspension of the Teryx 750 4x4 is designed to remain controlled even at top speed.
When the terrain requires it, the driver can activate 4WD with a simple servo-control switch. Further traction management is achieved via an ATV-style front differential control activated with a hand lever that functions like a rear hand brake and lets the driver select how much the wheels are locked together. The rear wheels stay locked and always turn together — much like a sport ATV — allowing the Teryx to slide around corners easier in a drift style.
It continues its dominance in the field with new 26-inch Maxxis tires developed specifically for the Teryx 750 4x4 that enable superb forward and sliding traction. The tall tires offer good rough terrain handling and contribute to its class leading ground clearance and ability to overcome obstacles.
A fast RSV would not be good without having equally capable stopping power and Teryx 750 4x4 delivers. It employs a combination of dual 200mm discs up front and a sealed wet brake in the rear. The front brakes are tucked into the wheels for protection from debris and their 27mm twin-piston calipers are rigid-mounted for optimum feel and control. The advantage of the sealed rear brake is most apparent when it’s able to keep working even in the wettest or muddiest of environments.
Featuring bucket seats and retractable three-point seat belts that keep the driver and passenger strapped in snugly, the Teryx 750 4x4 also has plenty of shoulder and leg room to provide a comfortable ride. It also has foot guards designed into the steel floor boards and body along with a padded steering wheel that is positioned low for better control.
However, the Teryx 750 4x4 isn’t all play and no work. It is equipped with a 500-pound capacity cargo bed that is ideal for recreational users, yet versatile enough for work and hauling with tie down hooks in all four corners and comes with a cargo net to keep the goods secure. The Teryx 750 4x4 can also pull the load with its 1300-pound towing capacity.
Rider comfort and conveniences increase even more on the Teryx 750 4x4 LE, with the addition of a digital meter with dual trip meters, clock and hour-meter, half-windshield, hard top and dual retractable cup holders. The LE also features a tilting cargo bed with gas assist, which gives the tilting bed a boost.
When the sun drops the fun or work doesn’t have to stop with the dual 40W headlights showing the way and dual rear taillights letting it be seen. An eight gallon fuel tank allows it to operate longer and cover more distance so the journey isn’t cut short either..
The Teryx 750 4x4 is built tough with scratch resistant Thermo-Plastic Olefin (TPO) bodywork and steel skid plates underneath to shield the engine from the ride stopping obstacles.
AA large selection of authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available for the 2008 Teryx 750 4x4 are available through Kawasaki dealers. As with all off-highway vehicle recreation, Kawasaki encourages RSV drivers to drive responsibly and to respect the environment.

2008 KAWASAKI BRUTE FORCE 750 4X4i
The ultimate 4x4 performance king now fuel injected and even better
Kawasaki’s alpha dog Brute Force 750 4x4i all-terrain vehicle returns for 2008 to terrorize the competition with its awe-inspiring V-twin engine gaining a digital fuel injection system and the chassis receiving a host of updates in the suspension and comfort departments.
Built with adventure enthusiasts and sportsmen in mind, the Brute Force 750 4x4i is wrapped in aggressive bodywork, driven by a powerful V-twin engine and utilizes a fully independent rear suspension (IRS) system. And for 2008 the flagship of the Brute Force line not only gains EFI but also features revised suspension settings, new seat urethane, increased sealed storage, new bumper design, polished wheels, lighter aluminum footpegs, and stronger axle boots. The newest version also now has factory-installed plastic conduit for easy winch installation.
Adding fuel injection to Kawasaki’s largest and most powerful 90-degree, four-stroke V-twin engine, basically gives riders more of a good thing. Now the 749cc, twin Electrofusion-plated aluminum cylinders get fed via 36mm throttle bodies controlled by a 32-bit CPU, which delivers the correct mixture based on coolant temperature, air intake temperature, throttle position, air intake pressure, vehicle speed and crankshaft angle. The reduced spring rate for the throttle return springs and ball bearings in the throttle bodies translates into lighter feel at the throttle lever and less rider fatigue.
Add instantaneous fuel delivery and the engine response from the four valves per cylinder engine is sharper than ever – sure to be a hit with sport riders. The high-pressure fuel pump is located inside the tank and has a unique reservoir chamber at the bottom to help ensure air does not get into the fuel system.
The high-efficiency radiator is mounted high in the chassis where it is best shielded from mud and debris.
The Brute Force 750 4x4i transfers power from its V-twin engine to the wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) featuring high and low range, plus reverse, and by pressing a button on the handlebar, the rider can also select two- or four-wheel-drive operation. In four-wheel-drive mode, the Brute Force utilizes a limited-slip front differential, which eases steering effort under most riding conditions. The rider can also engage the Variable Front Differential Control to deliver torque equally to the right and left front wheels for maximum traction.
The front drive shafts of the Brute Force feature Cardan joints – an industry first. Similar to U-joints, Cardan joints help absorb torque fluctuations to the drive shaft, and its lightweight design helps to reduce vibration. The rear final gear case and sealed rear braking system have been designed in conjunction with the IRS. Smaller and more compact, the gear case is extremely rugged and efficient.
Increased ride comfort on the new Brute Force 750 4x4i doesn’t come at the expense of sport performance. Dual-rate springs for the front and rear suspension permit the best of both worlds. A soft initial rate handles the bumps at slower speeds is followed by a firmer second spring rate that comes into play as the springs are further compressed to handle higher sport speeds. Complimenting the revised suspension settings is new seat urethane that boosts rider comfort to new levels. The seat feels softer initially, but is firm enough to be supportive and provide plenty of comfort for long hours in the saddle.
The Brute Force 750 4x4i utilizes a simple, yet sturdy double-cradle tubular steel frame that features front dual A-arms and IRS. The front dual A-arms have adjustable shocks with 6.7 inches of travel, while the IRS employs a leading torsion bar and provides 7.9 inches of travel. A combination of needle bearings and ball joints in the lower rear A-arms gives the IRS unrivaled suspension action and high stability and excellent rider comfort.
Dual front discs and Kawasaki’s highly acclaimed sealed rear braking system provide maximum stopping power for the Brute Force 750 4x4i. The rear braking system’s internal components are completely sealed to protect them from mud, dust and debris, and its compact size provides for more ground clearance than a conventional rear disc brake system. Enhancing the highly effective braking even further is the engine’s Kawasaki Engine Brake Control, which helps slow the ATV under certain conditions.
As if its performance wasn’t enough, the Brute Force 750 4x4i can turn heads with looks alone with its new polished 12-inch wheels and their easily buffed surface and more robust folded lip design. The eye-catching wheels are clad in aggressive tires that help give the ATV its 9.7 inches of ground clearance and transfer the awesome power of the V-twin engine to the ground.
The new look up front is a benefit of the Brute Force’s revised bumper design, which offers a more effective handgrip position for manhandling the big Kawasaki when the need arises. Behind the bumper are the big, strong and tough-looking bodywork and front grille that match the aggressive angular lines of its bodywork. This plastic is made of Thermo-Plastic Olefin (TPO), and has a high-gloss appearance and is scratch-resistant.
Rider position is upright and comfortable, enhancing the rider’s ability to interact with the Brute Force 750 4x4i and scan the horizon and the easy to read automotive-style instrument panel. Other features include the ATV industry’s first four-bulb headlights, and a new waterproof storage box in the left front fender, complementing the storage compartment in the right front fender.
Keeping the weight in check are new aluminum footpegs on the full-sized floorboards and smaller and lighter cargo racks. The new Brute Force ATV also features a subtlety more compact design, with almost one half inch less in width and height than last year’s machine. The chassis balance is further optimized by positioning the large 5.4-gallon fuel tank beneath the revised seat.
It can carry a combined weight of 264 pounds on its cargo racks and has a tow rating of 1,250 pounds.Features and Benefits

2008 KAWASAKI MULE 3010 TRANS 4x4 DIESEL
The original transforming utility vehicle adds power steering to its repertoire
Kawasaki introduced the diesel version of its successful MULE 3010 Trans4x4 last year. This unit mated the extra power and convenience of a diesel engine with a four-wheel drive off-road utility vehicle that allows the user to transform it from a four-person 4x4 to a two-person with an extended cargo bed 4x4 in a few quick steps. For 2008, Kawasaki upped the ante again — and added electric power steering (EPS) to the versatile MULE 3010 Trans4x4 DIESEL.
The new EPS offers a more comfortable and controlled ride by reducing steering effort at low speeds and harnessing its electric motor’s inertia to dampen out most of the bump steer and kickback caused by impacts to the wheel. Electrically driven, the motor is controlled by an ECU that uses input from a vehicle speed sensor and torque sensor to determine the amount of assistance provided. This system doesn’t put a power drain on the engine and works immediately — available as soon as the ignition key is turned to the “ON” position.
This off-road work horse features a fully automatic transmission with two or four-wheel drive options, and takes only a moment to convert from a two to a four-person ride. While the cargo payload expands from 400 to 800 pounds in the two-person configuration, users have the ability to select between cargo and personnel carrying needs, depending on the specific job-at-hand.
This versatility, coupled with the legendary reputation of Kawasaki’s liquid-cooled, three cylinder diesel engine makes the MULE 3010 Trans4x4 DIESEL an immediate winner. The overhead valve design of the engine maximizes efficiency while the cast iron block and head ensure extra durability in all types of usage. Producing 38.3 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2,800 rpm, this unit has low-end pulling power to spare for the most rigorous of needs.
The Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System (KAPS) is a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that helps keep engine rpm in the most efficient range for any selected vehicle speed, load, or terrain. The CVT yields a wide drive ratio spread for ample pulling power and quick acceleration. Strength and durability are aided by large torque converters which maximize belt engagement area, improving heat dissipation, as well as the use of a thick, strong drive belt.
Tuned specifically to accommodate higher payloads, the KAPS also features a high-flow cover that helps cool the CVT while providing superb splash protection and water-proofing. Sheaves with high silicon-type material add to this unit’s increased durability, and an adjustable belt deflection and open sided drive pulley provides better cooling for longer belt life.
The MULE 3010 Trans4x4 DIESEL also features a torque converter air filter that uses an efficient intake cooling fan to draw sufficient air into the CVT. Wear is reduced by cooling the converter with filtered air, courtesy of a special air cleaner that uses an easily replaceable filter element.
The engine air cleaner is a cyclone-type Donaldson unit with a replaceable paper element. This design is effective and needs less frequent cleaning, even through repeated MULE utility vehicle use in extremely dusty off-road conditions. The MULE is equipped with a gauge that indicates when the filter should be changed.
Helping the filter stay clean and last longer—especially in the rugged conditions for which this Kawasaki was built—the engine air and converter cooling air are drawn from the top of the cab frame, where there’s less dust.
Among this MULE many attributes are a dual-mode differential, limited slip front differential, two-speed transfer case for the four-wheel drive, independent strut-type front suspension, DeDion rear suspension, and four-wheel, self-adjusting sealed hydraulic drum brakes.
An improved ride—in conditions that often times cry out for comfort—comes courtesy of the 23-inch tires with stiff sidewalls, improving both off-road function and providing added ground clearance. The rear wheel bearings use two rollers in one large bearing, providing added durability.
Kawasaki takes pride in the owner usability attached to all of its products, and this MULE is no exception. The simple, easy to operate controls for the MULE 3010 Trans4x4 DIESEL are all dash-mounted. In addition to the shift mechanism, they include a new digital hour meter, a horn, a 12-volt DC outlet with 10-amp capacity, and a speedometer. A parking brake and coolant temperature warning light are in plain view, and the MULE has a sealed glove box, and an open dashboard storage area.
Winch mounts are standard on the frame of this all-purpose UV, and users will be able to find their way in all kinds of lighting conditions by using the 35-watt, cat-eye headlights that are activated by the push of a simple dash-mounted button.

2008 KAWASAKI MULE 3010 4X4 DIESEL
The unbeatable utility vehicle combination:
Diesel power, MULE ruggedness and power steering smoothness
Adding some finesse to its muscular worker horse, Kawasaki fitted the hard working Mule 3010 4x4 Diesel with electric power steering (EPS) for 2008. Already a proven hand with its reliable and stout diesel engine, automatic transmission, tilting cargo bed, and selectable four-wheel drive, this MULE just got more comfortable and easier to use.
The new EPS offers a more comfortable and controlled ride by reducing steering effort at low speeds and harnessing its electric motor’s inertia to dampen out most of the bump steer and kickback caused by impacts to the wheel. Electrically driven, the motor is controlled by an ECU that uses input from a vehicle speed sensor and torque sensor to determine the amount of assistance provided by the system. The system works immediately and doesn’t put a power drain on the engine. It operates as soon as the ignition key is turned to the “ON” position.
The Mule 3010 4x4 Diesel utility vehicle features a rugged grille, headlights and rounded fenders like its 3000-series siblings. Body panels of the cab are made of durable, colored plastic to help hide scuffing. The front hood of the Mule 3010 Diesel can be lifted with the touch of a button to reveal a large storage space, which also has convenient D-rings to secure cargo and the two lever latches make opening and closing the tailgate easy. Located beneath the front bumper are winch-ready tabs for an easy installation of a winch.
The Mule 3010 4x4 Diesel powerplant is a liquid-cooled, 953cc three-cylinder diesel engine that produces high torque at low engine rpm. Air for the engine is drawn through an intake located at the top of the cab frame and passes through a cyclone-type air cleaner, reducing dust intake.
The diesel engine is matched to the Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System (KAPS) a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that features a high and low range, reverse, and helps keep engine rpm in the most efficient range for any selected vehicle speed, load, or terrain and yields a wide drive ratio spread for ample pulling power and quick acceleration. Strength and durability are aided by large torque converters which maximize belt engagement area, improve heat dissipation, as well as the use of a thick, strong drive belt and sheaves with high silicon-type material.
The KAPS also features a high-flow cover that helps cool the CVT while providing superb splash protection and water-proofing. This reliable system is combined with a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive to transmit power to a dual-mode rear differential that can be locked to maximize traction, or unlocked to minimize ground disturbance when making tight turns. The operator can also select four-wheel drive for extra pulling power in difficult conditions.
Helping the filter stay clean and last longer—especially in the rugged conditions for which this Kawasaki was built—the engine air and converter cooling air are drawn from the top of the cab frame, where there’s less dust.
Controls on the Mule 3010 4x4 Diesel are also easy to operate. The high/low-range, forward/reverse shift lever and the lever for selecting four-wheel drive operation are all placed within easy reach on the dash. The coolant temperature warning light is easy to see, and a push-button control activates the headlights. Other standard features include an hour meter, fuel gauge and horn.
The chassis of the Mule 3010 4x4 Diesel is a ladder-type frame that rides on a DeDion rear leaf-spring suspension designed to carry heavy loads yet provide a smooth ride when the cargo bed is empty. MacPherson struts handle front suspension duties, while rack-and-pinion steering is light and maneuverable over rough terrain. Four hydraulically operated, self-adjusting drum brakes that are sealed to protect from water, mud and other debris provide stopping power, and 23-inch tires provide a comfortable ride and maximum traction over a variety of surfaces.
The Mule 3010 4x4 Diesel utility vehicle can carry up to 1,100 pounds in its steel cargo bed and can tow up to 1,200 pounds. Other standard features include a 5.3-gallon fuel tank, spin-on oil filter and a U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor in its muffler.
