New model and new features highlight 2001 lineup
Arctic Cat kicks off their ATV introduction with the announcement of a new machine being added to further round out their lineup of ATVs - the 250 4x4. This new machine, now the most economical 4x4 Arctic Cat offers, maintains the rugged, "go anywhere" features that set all Arctic Cat ATVs apart.
Like all Arctic Cat ATVs, the 250 4x4 contains numerous features you'd expect such as the most ground clearance, most rack capacity, dual piston, hydraulic disk brakes (front and rear), and more
Additional features finding there way into the 2001 lineup include full width front axle boot protectors (stick stoppers) offering additional puncture protection for the boot. And to get you there and back, Arctic Cat has a new 4.75 gallon fuel tanks that feature an in tank fuel gauge and larger diameter filler neck making stops at the pump more convenient.
If you should happen to find yourself running on fumes, a quick turn of Arctic Cat's relocated, easy access reserve selector and you're on your way. Also new for 2001 are Arctic Cat brand, dual piston, single lever hydraulic disk brakes throughout the lineup. The 500 Automatics will receive reverse over-ride switches.

Arctic Cat's 250 class is complete with new 250 4x4
The new Arctic Cat 250 4x4 - offering the traction and hauling capacity of a full-sized machine for about what you'd expect to pay for a compact.
When Arctic Cat set out to build a better ATV, giving you more to go on, they didn't focus just on the largest. Bigger is not necessarily better. In fact, the list of Arctic Cat features among the 250 4x4 and 2x4 such as the most travel, dual piston, hydraulic disk brakes (both front and rear), most ground clearance, and the most fuel capacity are just a few features that make these Arctic Cat 250s special.
What's more, these Arctic Cat 250s received welcomed additions for 2001. For rough
terrain, the 250 4x4 offers additional puncture protection for the boots by adding full-width front axle boot protectors (stick stoppers). A larger 4.75 gallon fuel tank, in tank fuel gauge, larger diameter filler neck, and an easy-access reverse selector.
Powered by a proven 246cc, fully-sealed, four-stroke engine, these Arctic Cats offer consistent power output with a long engine life. Getting you down the trail is Arctic Cats exclusive rocker shifter providing effortless shifting with full floorboards and foot protection. The five speed transmission offers HI-LO range (super low on the 4x4) and has a large oil cooler to maintain performance in extreme temperature conditions.
Fully independent double A-arm front and rear suspension create 6.5 inches of travel and 8.25 inches of ground clearance - the most in its class allowing for a smoother ride and better tire contact. And when tackling large stumps and rocks, Arctic Cat's durable, full length plastic skid plate allows you to escape without damage.
Not to be fooled by their size, these 250s offer an industry leading rack capacity of 225 lbs., and a towing capacity of up to 850 lbs. Arctic Cat 300s
Ask yourself what's important in an ATV. Maybe it's an abundance of travel for a cushy ride, both front and rear hydraulic disk brakes for precision stopping, huge ground clearance to clear the biggest of obstacles, or simply a large gas tank for extended range - to get you there and back. Placed in a tough utility frame, the single cylinder 280cc engine
featured in the Arctic Cat 300s are air/oil cooled with Keihin carburetors. The smooth, 5-speed auto-clutch transmission has reverse and standard Hi-LO range. The 300 4x4 also sports a super-low gear and its selectable 2wd-4wd transmission lets you shift into 2wd to reduce steering effort or into 4wd for maximum traction.

Arctic Cat 400 4x4 and 2x4 - 500 power at a 400 price
If it wasn't for the decals proudly displayed on the Arctic Cat 400 4x4 and 2x4, you'd have a tough time just distinguishing it from a 500 class machine. It's popularity and ability to rival the big machines stem from its performance, dependability and maintenance free engineering.
Welcomed additions making their way into the 2001 line-up include full-width front axle boot protectors (stick stoppers) on the 400 4x4 offering additional puncture protection for the boot. A larger 4.75 gallon fuel tank, in tank fuel gauge, larger diameter filler neck, and an easy access reserve selector. The 400 4x4 and 400 2x4 offer greater ground clearance, more suspension travel and a smoother ride. The 400s have independent double A-arm front suspension and patented ACT independent rear suspension creating 7.2 inches of travel. The 50-inch wheel base and 9.2 inches of ground clearance will get you over large obstacles with ease.
The 400 engine demonstrates exceptional low-end torque and towing power and is controlled by a five-speed auto clutch transmission. Arctic Cat's exclusive rocker shifter allows for full floorboard protection giving you added comfort and confidence. In addition, the 400 4x4 also sports full-time four-wheel drive and HI-LO range.
Responsive stopping on the 400s will be provided by Arctic Cat brand, dual piston, single-lever hydraulic disk brakes on both front and rear. They require less maintenance and zero adjustment. To stay put, an easy-to engage parking lock on the master cylinder comes standard as well.
Instrumentation includes a neutral/reverse light and gear position indicators on both models. The 400 4x4 also offers a speedometer with trip odometer, and a combined rack capacity of 300 lbs, while the combined rack capacity of the 400 2x4 is 270 lbs. The towing capacity for the 400 4x4 and 400 2x4 are 1050 lbs. and 1020 lbs., respectively.

Arctic Cat 500 and 500 Automatic 4x4s deliver the power
Back again after a successful first year, the 500 4x4 Automatic along with its manual shift counterpart will once again deliver the power in 2001 with more of the same great features you expect from an Arctic Cat ATV.
Powered by fully sealed, liquid cooled, four stroke 493cc engines, these two beasts offer added strength and rigidity and maintenance free performance. Qualities that are attributed to a monoblock engine and transmission case design as found in the 500 Automatic and the fully sealed, waterproof engine, transmission and magneto found in the 500 4x4. And whether you're utilizing Arctic Cat's exclusive rocker shifter or Duramatic transmission, these 500 4x4s have torque to spare providing tremendous pulling power and smooth acceleration in any gear.
For downhill grades, the Arctic Cat 500 Automatic's self braking engine will keep you in control through your descent. Both 500s offer a start-in-gear feature eliminating the need to shift to neutral before starting the engine. Both front differentials have selectable 4WD or 2WD for easy shifting and steering comfort.

Arctic Cat's suspension in these 500s will keep your tires firmly planted in the roughest terrain with fully independent, double A-arm front suspension and semi-independent rear suspension giving you 7.2-inches of travel. Both Arctic Cat's have 9-inches of ground clearance and coil spring over shock absorbers, on all four suspension corners, and constant velocity joints allowing for greater suspension travel.
You'll find new boot protectors (stick stoppers) on the
front axle providing extra protection in the timber. And for operator clarity, we've added start-in-gear and choke operation decals. The 500 4x4 automatic also receives a reverse over-ride switch. And as always, these ATVs give you plenty of extras, like 300 lb. combined rack capacity, and a towing capacity of 1050 lbs., a full-length plastic skid plate, dual 12v accessory plugs, axle mounted hitch and full floor boards.
