Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? Yamaha's
1997 dual-purpose motorcycles provide the ability to ride to
work, school or the market, yet they allow for an escape to
off-road adventures. In 1997, Yamaha offers three sporty models
that strike a balance between sensible transportation and
high-spirited off-road exploration.
For the ultimate versatility in dual-sport motorcycles, beginning and casual riders alike will enjoy the uniquely big-wheeled 1997 Yamaha TW200. Oversized 130/80-18 on the front and 180/80-14 high-traction tires on the rear provide additional traction for beginning riders. To move the massive rubber, a 196cc four-stroke powerplant and a five-speed transmission and clutch, powers the TW200. An engine counterbalancer is added to reduce engine vibration and provide an extra measure of rider comfort, especially on extended rides.
The TW's comfortable ride is further enhanced by telescopic front forks, a rear single shock suspension, and a generously large seat. The 1997 TW200 is packed with rugged Yamaha features, including maintenance-free electronic ignition for reliable power, an automatic chain tensioner for reduced service, and scratch and break resistant fenders.
The 1997 Yamaha TW200 will sport blue colors.

Yamaha's XT225 was the first modern, full-sized dual-sport motorcycle built for smaller and beginner riders. The 1997 XT225, with its 223cc, four-stroke powerplant and six-speed transmission, will continue to build upon its popularity as a light-weight, versatile and high-value dual-purpose machine.
The XT225's low seat height and light weight allow beginning riders to learn riding and confidence-building skills quickly. A compact wheelbase and wide steering angle give it remarkable maneuverability.
An electric starting motor, powered by a sealed, maintenance-free battery, long-travel front forks, adjustable, single-shock rear swingarm suspension, aluminum skid plate protection, and a large fuel tank are just some of the XT225's features.
The 1997 Yamaha XT225 will be available at Yamaha dealerships
nationwide in August in white and blue. Suggested Retail

The spirited XT350 continues to offer dual-sport riders unmatched versatility and dependability. The bike's 346cc four-stroke, four-valve engine uses a dual-stage, twin throat carburetor and two intake tracks for low-end response. To reduce vibration and rider fatigue, the XT350 uses an engine crank counterbalancer. For easier starts, an automatic de-compression device has been added.
The XT350's short wheelbase and light weight --the lightest in its class-- allow a high degree of maneuverability and rider control, and its seat height remains the lowest in the 350cc class. Sporting the largest fuel tank of its competitors, the XT350 will provide well over one hundred miles of personalized adventure on or off-road.
