NEW YAMAHA 700s!

Yamaha Feeds The Growing Demand For 700s.

In recent years, riders have chosen snowmobiles in the 600 class more than any other. But industry trends indicate that many 600 riders are moving up to sleds with 700 cc engines, making it the fastest growing segment in the sport. To satisfy this customer's needs, Yamaha is adding six all-new 700 cc machines to its line of 1998 snowmobiles, bringing their total to eight 700s, including an all-new triple triple. Whether you like to pound the trails, ride in deep powder or tour on the weekends, there is a Yamaha 700 built for you.

SRX 700 Triple Triple

This sled is the flagship in Yamaha's "top performance" sled category. But it's not last year's 700 SX with triple pipes. It's an all-new model from Yamaha. Beneath the newly shaped hood painted in Team Yamaha Blue is a new, high-tech, 696 cc three-cylinder engine with triple exhaust pipes tuned to maximize horsepower. Compact and lightweight, the Yamaha powerplant has a new crankcase, crankshaft, cylinders, pistons and heads, providing the highest horsepower in its class and the ultimate in Yamaha performance for the '97-'98 riding season.

The SRX 700 engine also features the latest in high-tech exhaust valves, the Yamaha power valve system. Unlike competitive valve designs activated by exhaust pressure or cylinder pressure, the Yamaha valve system is electronically controlled. A computer monitors engine RPM, feeding the information to a servo motor that adjusts the power valves for optimum exhaust timing and maximum horsepower across the entire powerband. Unique to Yamaha, the system uses technology taken from gran prix motorcycle racing. The valves are self-cleaning, preventing carbon buildup and valve sticking problems experienced with other systems.

The new SRX 700 is up to 30 lbs. lighter than other sleds in its class. If that isn't enough to grab the attention of performance minded riders, there is a long list of advanced Yamaha technology that will:

VMAX 700 SX

This lightweight 700 triple uses its superior power-to-weight and advanced suspensions to revolutionize the trail performance category. The Vmax 700 SX delivers what many performance riders consider the ideal combination of light weight, incredible throttle response and razor-edged handling.

Tucked low in the all-aluminum ProAction System chassis of the Vmax 700 SX is a light, compact, high-output 698 cc three-cylinder engine. It features case reed induction, ceramic composite cylinder plating, triple TM33 flat-slide carbs and a single tuned exhaust pipe to minimize overall weight and maximize power.

Other high-performance features found on the Vmax 700 SX include:

VMAX 700 XTC

Mega-power and mogul-handling comfort go hand in hand on the Vmax 700 XTC. This brand new "trail comfort" model combines the performance of Yamaha's high-output 700 triple with the long-travel ride of the ProAction Plus X rear suspension.

Yamaha introduced this 700 triple powerplant in its popular Vmax 700 SX model. It's a compact, lightweight design that delivers unprecedented power to weight, breathing in through triple TM33 carbs and breathing out through a single, tuned pipe to maximize power while minimizing weight.

As for the suspension, the ProAction Plus X long-travel rear suspension features rebuildable, aluminum-bodied nitrogen gas shocks with I 1.5 inches of true, useable travel. A rear, horizontally mounted shock gives this suspension extremely quick compression and rebound over the bumps. Bearings or bushings at key pivot points and seven zerks feeding 12 grease points minimize friction, making the ProAction Plus X the most efficient rear suspension in the industry.

The rest of the features on the Vmax 700 XTC add to the power, comfort and styling of this performance trail sled from Yamaha.

VMAX 700 XTC DELUXE

More and more trail riders are adding extra convenience features to their high-performance solo sleds. For 1998, Yamaha takes the work out of accessorizing with its new Vmax 700 XTC Deluxe. It's powered by Yamaha's liquid cooled 698 cc three-cylinder engine with a single exhaust pipe designed to maximize power while minimizing overall sled weight. In addition to all the outstanding features found on the standard Vmax 700 XTC, the Deluxe version includes factory-installed electric start, reverse, mirrors and a tall windshield. You can also tell the Deluxe version on the trails by its distinctive Metallic Purple paint scheme.

VMAX 700 XT

For 700 riders who want more moguls for their money, Yamaha introduces the Vmax 700 XT. This new model is the best value in the 700 class, giving riders a performance trail sled that does it all.

The Vmax 700 XT moves down the trail with the power of Yamaha's lightweight, high-output 700 single-piped triple, tucked low in the lightweight, yet extremely rigid ProAction System Chassis. It rides over the bumps with the plush comfort of the Yamaha ProAction Plus long-travel rear suspension, featuring 11.5 inches of true mogul-absorbing travel. And the Vmax 700 XT, painted in vivid Yamaha Black, does it all with a price tag that will get the adrenaline flowing in any performance-minded trail rider.

VENTURE 700

For those who like to tour the winter trails two-up, Yamaha triples the luxury in 1998 with the introduction of the big, powerful Venture 700. Available with 600 and 500 engines last year, the new Venture joins the Yamaha family of 700s, offering the luxury touring crowd more power than ever.

The three-cylinder 698 cc powerplant has the best power to weight on the tour, and sits low in the lightweight yet rigid ProAction System chassis, creating outstanding balance and handling. It also features three TM33 flat-slide carbs to provide incredible throttle response and a single, high-flow exhaust system with large volume Y-pipe to maximize power output while minimizing overall weight. Naturally, the Venture 700 comes standard with a long list of comfort features:

MOUNTAIN SRX 700

The all-new Mountain SRX 700 gives high-altitude riders a triple triple with a high-performance attitude. It features Yamaha's new three-cylinder 700 engine with triple exhaust and the Yamaha power valve system, the industry's only computer-controlled exhaust valves, designed to maximize power throughout the entire RPM range.

Adding to the performance of this lightweight triple triple are three TM33 flat-slide carbs, case reed induction, triple exhaust ports, ceramic composite cylinder plating, and a new air management system that includes a new hood and belly pan design with ducts providing cool, fresh air to the carburetor intake, brake, mufflers, crankcase and clutch.

The Mountain SRX 700 also comes standard with plenty of features sure to be appreciated by deep-snow riders:

MOUNTAIN MAX 7OO

After a year of taking riders to the top, this deep-snow performer is back. The Mountain Max 700 features the Yamaha three-cylinder 698 cc engine. The lightest 700 triple on the market, it has triple exhaust ports to maximize power, and a single tuned exhaust pipe to minimize weight. Other deep-snow features include:
