Yamaha Triples The Luxury, Adds 700 To Touring Lineup
COON RAPIDS, Minnesota--With the introduction of its new three cylinder Venture 700, Yamaha adds new power to its lineup of luxury two-up trail sleds, and gives touring enthusiasts a choice of four Venture models in its 1998 lineup.
The Venture 700 is a premium two-up, triple-cylinder limo with uncompromised luxury, power to spare and, ski tip to snow flap, every inch a Yamaha. It features a compact, high-output 698cc triple. The same engine used in the popular Vmax 700 SX trail sled, it's the lightest three-cylinder powerplant in its class, bringing a new level of power to touring. The engine sits low in the light yet rigid ProAction System chassis, helping create outstanding balance and handling for solo or two-up riding.
The 700 engine also features three TM33 flat-slide carbs to provide incredible throttle response, liquid-heated carburetors to maintain throttle response and fuel economy, and a single, high-flow exhaust pipe with large volume Y-pipe to maximize power output while minimizing weight.
The Venture 700 features long-travel front and rear suspensions. The advanced independent front suspension features 9 inches of true, useable travel and adjustable spring preload. In back, the ProAction Plus long-travel rear suspension delivers 11.5 inches of travel for outstanding comfort over rough terrain.
Additional comfort and convenience features are everywhere, the most evident being a brand new passenger backrest, the plushest, most adjustable design in Yamaha history. The rest add up to pure luxury-tall windshield, full instrumentation, electric start, hydraulic brake system with mechanical parking brake, adjustable handwarmers (a Yamaha exclusive), passenger grip warmers and wind deflectors, smooth-shifting reverse gear, dual mirrors and a big 12 gal. fuel tank.
