YAMAHA'S 1999 V-STAR LINE GAINS A NEW BIG BROTHER

All new V-Star 1100 joins the V-Star Custom and V-Star Classic.
The all new 65 cubic inch V-Star 1100 joins the original two V-stars introduced last year, the V-Star Custom and V-Star Classic, and gives consumers the choice of more power without sacrificing the excellent value that has come to define Yamaha's V-Star line. An overwhelming sales success in their first year of US distribution, the V-Star Custom and Classic, make their second year appearance as 1999 models.

V-Star 1100
With a seat height of 27 inches and an all-new powerful 75-degree V-twin engine, the V-Star 1100 offers the best of both worlds to seasoned veterans or beginning riders. Designed around the V-Star Custom, released in the 1998 model year, the V-Star 1100 features exceptional styling, a rock solid, full size, long and low chassis, superb handling and strong all-around power while maintaining the low V-Star price point.

The V-Star's 1100cc engine features ceramic composite cylinder lining, forged pistons and carburized connecting rods. A single 37 millimeter Mikuni carburetor with throttle position sensor (TPS) is used for crisp throttle response.

The V-Star 1100 offers all the benefits of the middleweight V-Stars like confident handling and ease of maintenance with the added power of a big bore cruiser. Along with the added muscle, Yamaha engineers wanted to improve the riding experience by adding double disc brakes up front, and a split solo/tandem seat to give you the option of cruising the boulevard alone or cruising the highway with a passenger.

All three V-Stars feature a full-size wheelbase, offer classic cruiser styling and are powered by a chromed and polished, air-cooled V-twin engine with two flowing chrome exhaust pipes for optimized low-end performance. The V-Stars also offer shaft drive for low maintenance and a smooth cruiser ride. ($7,799 US)

V-Star Custom and Classic
The 40 cubic inch 70 degree V-Star Custom and Classic are Yamaha's top selling cruisers and are still value priced. Both maintain the precision-built quality of existing Royal Star cruisers including the large diameter single disc brakes and large diameter steel frame. The 4.3 gallon teardrop fuel tank, including a .9 gallon reserve, gives the V-Star Custom and V-Star Classic the largest capacity in its class. Mounted atop the tank is a large-faced speedometer. A powerful 60/55 watt halogen headlight enhances night visibility and a maintenance-free battery ensures easy starting.

The low seat height, smaller engine, affordable price and low maintenance, make the V-Star line perfect for the younger riders both male and female, with fewer years of riding experience. It is estimated that 15 to 17 percent of the V-Star customers will be first-time buyers.

Yamaha's V-Star 1100 is available in Black, Stardust Silver/Sunrise Gold and Cranberry Red/Cherry Red and will carry a value conscious price when it goes on sale in April 1999. The V-Star Classic is available in two colors either Onyx or Jade Green/Pearl White. The V-Star Custom also is available in two colors, either Onyx or Bordeaux Red/Silver Metallic. The Custom and Classic will be available at dealers in October/November 1998. Yamaha also enables riders to personalize their V-Stars with more than 90 accessories.
