Works Performance manufactures a
patented (US Patent # 5348112) shock system for the Softail that
allows the rider to lower the bike and raise it back to stock
ride height from the saddle. These unique shocks feature polished
7075-T6 billet and chromed steel components, and are equipped
with internal springs for a clean, smooth look. Two adjuster
mountings are offered: a frame mount for '84 to current models;
and a primary case mount for '89 to current model Softails.
The shocks are equipped with Works' exclusive valving which

Shocks for Softails are also
available without the adjustable ride height feature in standard
ride height and lowered ride height configurations. These shocks
feature the same internal springs, large damping piston and high
quality materials. The standard length shocks provide the superb
ride qualities of the adjustable shocks at a fraction of the
price.
The lowered ride height shocks are designed with stiffer spring
and valving rates to handle the reduced suspension travel. These
shocks lower the bike approximately 1-7/8 inches (one half of the
total suspension travel) static height. Standard length and
lowered length shocks fit all Softail models from '84 on. The
shocks are fully serviceable, and made entirely in the USA.

Works Performance has just released the new Adjustable Tracker shocks specially designed for the BMW R1100R/RS/RT, 850R and 1100GS front Telelever suspensions. Works Performance offers full line
service and repair for many of the OEM rear shocks. The
"Heart Transplant" is Works' re-valve of the stock
shock. Rather than just add a few shims, Works installs a new
piston of the same design as that used in the Works Ultracross
rear shock. This modification can also include seals and shaft
bushings as optional repairs.
For shocks with bent or damaged shafts, Works has the
"Guts" cartridges (shown). The cartridge replaces the
shaft, eye or clevis, the bumper, seal head, and dust cap and
include the "Heart Transplant" piston --basically all
of the insides of the shock. Featuring a high tensile steel,
5/8" diameter shaft, the cartridges are available in a
standard version and an 18-position rebound adjustable version
and are installed in a serviceable shock body.
These modifications are available on many OEM dirt bike and ATV
rear shocks. Suggested retail prices (installed): Heart
Transplant -- $159.00; Standard cartridge -- $249.00; Adjustable

The A-T Steelers are durable
steel-bodied shocks used for ATV front shocks and selected model
rear shocks. These rugged shocks are built to order based on the
rider weight, type of riding, and desired ride qualities. Not
only is the damping action of the shock vastly improved over
stock shocks, but in most cases the shocks are designed to offer
the maximum wheel travel allowable by the ATV suspension
configuration.
Depending on application, the shocks are fitted with either
single-, dual-, or triple-rate springs. This shock features a
1/2-inch, hard-chromed steel shaft and a 1-3/8-inch piston.
Unlike many factory shocks, Works shocks are fully re-rebuildable
and tuneable. The shocks have multi-position clip-type preload
adjustment. Most can be equipped with optional hose-mounted
reservoirs and threaded preload.
A-T Steeler suggested retail prices range from $239.00 to $319.00
per pair for front shocks, and from $179 to $339.00 each for rear
shocks.
