UTILITY
SKI-DOO WORK SLEDS, TRUE SPORT-UTILITY VEHICLES
In many parts of the world, outdoor work
outside doesn't stop when the snow falls and snowmobiles do a lot of the winter work. They're the choice of ski resorts, trail grooming operations, national parks, farms and even militaries. But in many cases, when the chores are done, utility sleds are also asked to play on trails and in the powder.
SKANDIC AND TUNDRA SLEDS HAVE THE FOLLOWING FEATURES
Rotax" engines
Work situations call for engines with plenty of pulling power-torque. The Rotax engines selected for utility machines are designed for maximum torque. Most are fan-cooled models, for economical and consistent cooling in stop-and-go situations. The liquid-cooled Skandic WT LC model uses liquid-cooling for more top-end speed and power.Long-track, work-oriented suspensions
Three different rear suspensions provide the comfort and flotation needed for on-trail pleasure and off-trail work. The SC-10 Touring gives a stable, comfortable ride to the Skandic 500 and 380 models, an articulated slide configuration is standard on the Skandic WT LC, WT and SWT models, and a light torque-reaction skidframe is on the Tundra 11 LT and Tundra R models.Bombardier disc brakes
The Skandic SWT, WT LC, WT and 500 models come to a halt with the Bombardier hydraulic disc design. Its progressive feel and power is ideal for work and fun trail running. Tundra machines and the Skandic 380 machines use a mechanical disc. Both versions are self-adjusting for pad wear.Reverse Gear
Mechanical reverse is standard on all Skandic models. New-for-'98 is the Rotax Electronic Reverse (RER) on the Tundra R model. RER is a "smart" ignition management technique that changes the sled's direction with just the push of a button by reversing piston-direction.Choke
Standard on all Skandic models for easier cold engine starting. The Skandicm WT LC sled offers a choke and primer.
- New Skandic color. Platinum silver.
- A tongue-type hitch and luggage rack are standard. For easy towing and increased cargo capacity.
SKANDIC SWT (SUPER WIDE TRACK) The ultimate workhorse, with the largest track in the business.
- Rotax 503 engine. 497cc. Fan-cooled. Mikuni VM-34 carbs. Tapered pipe to forced-flow muffler.
- Articulated slide rear suspension for handling rugged terrain and hauling big loads.
- 24 x 154-inch track (607 x 3912mm).
- Wide steel skis with plastic liner.
- Bombardier hydraulic disc brake.
SKANDIC W-F LC (WIDE TRACK LIQUID-COOLED)) Wide track work and play sled with excellent deep snow flotation. WT LC model has a liquid-cooled engine for more top-end speed and power.

SKANDIC 500, 380 Entry level sport-utility sleds in the S-2000 chassis.
- Rotax 503 engine on 500 model. 497cc. Fan-cooled. Mikuni VM-34 carbs. New,
tuned muffler. New fan duct directs cool fan from outside the cab into the cooling system for improved performance.
- Rotax 377 engine on 380 model. 368cc. Fan-cooled. Mikuni VM-30 carbs. Tuned muffler. New fan-out duct directs heated air outside the cab, lowering performance robbing underhood temperatures.
- SC-10 Touring falling-rate rear suspension for two-up or loaded comfort on and off trail
- 15 x 136-inch track (381 x 3455mm).
- Bombardier hydraulic disc brake on 500 model, mechanical disc on 380 model.
TUNDRA 11 LT, TUNDRA R The go-anywhere so-called "mechanical snowshoe: the lightest snowmobile in the
industry at 377 pounds (171 kg)
- Rotax 277 single-cylinder engine. 269cc. Piston porting. Fan-cooled. Mikuni VM-34 carb. Integral tuned muffler.
- Rotax Electronic Reverse (RER) -zero-weight push-button reverse on Tundra R model.
- Superlight torque reaction rear suspension for superior off-trail maneuverability.
