Vanson: Cordura Avenger Jacket

Vanson's Cordura Avenger jacket is the companies new textile entry based on their popular Avenger leather jacket. The jackets short waist, pre-curved arms and comfortable road-race type collar seriously position this garment for sport bike use. Like other serious sport bike garments, the Avenger is most comfortable when worn bent over and seated on a bike.

Most notable on this jacket are its two zippered front vent panels. Basically you unzip and open the two large panels exposing the color-matched perforated leather panels beneath. Two small zippered vertical vents are placed in the lower sides of the jacket. This venting system looks as if it will provide for a rush of airflow, but in fact only provides moderate venting behind sportbike fairings which block much of the direct air flow.

Materials and construction are excellent, as is the ample and well placed body armor. Competition weight leather patches are sewn under the nylon shell at the elbow forearm and shoulder areas for increased protection and garment integrity. A Vanson back pad, in 4 lengths, can be added as an option as can the snap-in Vanson Streamliner thermal vest or zip-on Sport Rider pant.

We found the sizing of this jacket to be particularly short, even for our vertically challenged test rider, so be sure to try the jacket on before purchasing.

Overall, this is an excellent Cordura and leather sportbike jacket for mild to warm temperatures. We would like to see a back pad added as a standard feature to complement the jackets otherwise excellent body armor, and some real pockets are definitely needed for street riding.
