1. VICTORY: AMA APPLAUDS CONGRESS FOR FUNDING MOTORCYCLE STUDY
Off-highway riders also benefit from transportation bill
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is applauding Congress for funding for the first nationwide motorcycle-crash study in almost 30 years.

U.S. House and Senate conferees agreed to a compromise version of the $286.4 billion transportation bill, which was passed by both chambers late last week, reauthorizing transportation spending through September, 2009.

The bill, which President Bush is expected to sign this week, includes nearly $3 million for a study of motorcycle crashes. It specifies that
the research grants be provided to the Oklahoma Transportation Center, located at Oklahoma State University.

"After more than a decade of decline, motorcycling fatalities have increased in recent years, and those increases have prompted endless speculation about the reasons why," said AMA President Robert Rasor. "We're pleased that Congress agrees that we need answers, not theories. We're anxious for the study to begin, to help us understand how to prevent crashes and save lives."

"I'm happy we were able to include the provision providing grants to the Oklahoma Transportation Center for this important study," said Sen. James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. "It's an important step in helping to improve motorcycle safety."

"I was pleased to work with the American Motorcyclist Association to update these statistics," said Rep. Sam Graves (R-Missouri), who introduced the motorcycle-study language into the bill. "It has been over 20 years since we last studied what causes motorcycle accidents and now is the time to take another look." The last comprehensive study on the subject, commonly called the "Hurt Report" after University of Southern California researcher Dr. Harry Hurt, was published in the 1970s.

The AMA notes that the bill also preserves motorcycles' access to High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, and that it specifies that local governments will continue to be prohibited from excluding motorcycles from roads maintained with federal funds. In addition, the bill calls for motorcycles to be included in research on Intelligent Transportation systems, and makes available $25 million to individual states for motorcycle-safety training and awareness programs. Off-highway motorcyclists and ATV enthusiasts will benefit from the transportation bill as well, through $370 million in gasoline taxes earmarked for the Recreational Trails Program.

2. BMW MOTORCYCLES CLINCH THREE AWARDS FROM MOTORCYCLIST Magazine
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - August 1, 2005... Not one, not two, but three BMW motorcycles have earned coveted titles from the editors of Motorcyclist magazine.  In the publication's September issue, BMW Motorrad's 2006 K 1200 R was named "2005 Motorcycle of the Year;" while the BMW R 1200 GS (last year's Motorcycle of the Year) clinched the "Best Adventure" category and the BMW R 1200 RT captured top honors in the "Best Touring" category. According to the magazine's editors, it was the first time three of the ten annual awards were given to one manufacturer.

3. KTM's NATHAN RAMESY OUT FOR REST OF 2005 MOTOCROSS SEASON
Red Bull KTM Supercross and Motocross racer, Nathan Ramsey will be sitting out the rest of the 2005 AMA Motocross Championship Series due to a nagging wrist injury sustained during this past Supercross season.

Tough as nails, Ramsey is sorely disappointed, “This past Supercross season was amazing for me and I had hoped to continue that momentum into the motocross series but, I haven’t been producing any where near the results I wanted,” Ramsey commented. “I’m disappointed, but I’m going to get my wrist fixed, and let it fully heal. I plan on coming back to the 2006 Supercross season ready to roll!”

Team Manager, Larry Brooks added, “Nathan’s health is extremely important to us, and we felt that he should sit out the rest of the season to get his wrist properly fixed, and to have it heal correctly. The Red Bull KTM team is going to miss his presence at the races, but we feel this is the best decision before the 2006 season starts.”

4. PROPOSED 2006 AMA SUPERBIKE RULES ANNOUNCED
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (Aug. 3, 2005) -- AMA Pro Racing has announced the proposed technical rule changes for the 2006 AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited. Proposed rule changes were developed by AMA Pro Racing staff with input from the AMA Road Race advisory board which is comprised of representatives from teams and riders.

Proposed technical rule changes for the 2006 season can be viewed at www.amasuperbike.com. AMA Pro Racing licensed riders and credential holders may comment on proposed rule changes during a 30-day period beginning Thursday, Aug. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 3. Comments can be made via FAX, mail or through the AMA Pro Racing's RIDERS ONLY website at www.amaproracing.com/ridersonly. At the conclusion of the 30-day period, AMA Pro Racing will review submissions prior to forwarding the package to the AMA Pro Racing Board of Directors for ratification.

On May 26, AMA Pro Racing announced that 1000cc motorcycles would remain in AMA Superbike through the 2008 racing season. This announcement was followed up with another notification on June 17 that class structures for the AMA Superbike Championship were unchanged for 2006. The series is comprised of four classes. AMA Superbike is the premier class followed by three support classes: AMA Supersport, AMA Formula Xtreme and AMA Superstock.

According to Merrill Vanderslice, AMA Pro Racing Director of Competition, bringing stability to the series has been a primary objective. The manufacturers and top teams have asked us to provide them with as much lead time as possible so they could more easily formulate their planning, said Vanderslice. Announcing that AMA Superbike would be 1000cc-based for at least three more racing seasons is an example of that commitment. Vanderslice also commented that the 30-day rules comment period was an important part of the rule-making process. After AMA Pro Racing staff and advisory board members finalize the proposed rules for the upcoming season, the comment period adds another, vital level of input. In the past, comments received during this process have had a direct impact on the final rules package, confirmed Vanderslice.

5. NEW FEDERAL REPORT SHOWS GROWTH AND POPULARITY OF OHV RECREATION
POCATELLO, ID - A national trail-based recreation group says a new federal report on off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation in the United States shows popularity of motorized recreation among diverse ethnic communities.  The BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) says that the study published by the USDA Forest Service's Southern Research Station shows OHV use is widely recognized now as one of the fastest growing outdoor activities.

The report was prepared for the Forest Service in relation to a National OHV policy initiative expected to be finalized in August 2005. The policy will direct forests to designate roads, trails and areas available for OHV use. The source of the data is the National Survey on Recreation and Environment (NSRE). The NSRE is a collaborative project between the Forest Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee.

The study showed the proportion of people age 16 and older who said they participated in OHV recreation increased from 16.8 percent in 1999-2000 to 23.8 percent in 2003-2004. It also shows that Hispanic participation grew at the fastest percentage rate, more than doubling between 1999 and 2004.  The African-American participation growth rate also outpaced that of Whites, growing 50 percent compared to 36 percent for Whites.

NSRE data also noted that BRC and other groups may have different positions, but they typically share the concern that OHV use be carried out in a responsible manner. Don Amador, Western Representative for the BRC commented; This report shows what many of us have known for a long time; that OHV recreation is growing and is popular among all Americans. Amador said the growth in popularity of OHV use is no mystery to the estimated 36 million OHV enthusiasts in America. OHV recreation is a wonderful way to view and enjoy America's backcountry.

Amador stressed that this report should send a clear message to Congress, the Administration, and agencies such as the Forest Service that increased management and funding is needed in order to help land managers better provide for this popular activity. Amador added; I am proud the study recognized the effort that BRC has undertaken to promote and protect responsible OHV recreation on public lands.  This report is of critical importance and will serve as a useful tool for all land managers. The report can be found at:  http://www.fs.fed.us/recreation/programs/ohv/OHV_final_report.pdf

6. PROPOSED 2006 AMA FLAT TRACK RULE CHANGES ANNOUNCED
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (July 28, 2005) -- AMA Pro Racing has announced the proposed technical rule changes for the 2006 AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship. AMA Pro Racing licensed riders and credential holders may comment on proposed rule changes during a 30-day period beginning Friday, July 29 through Monday, Aug. 29. Credential holders with RIDERS ONLY password access may also comment via AMA Pro Racing's RIDERS ONLY website at www.amaproracing.com/ridersonly. At the conclusion of the 30-day period, AMA Pro Racing will review submissions prior to forwarding the package to the AMA Pro Racing Board of Directors for ratification. Proposed technical rule changes for the 2006 season can be viewed at www.amaflattrack.com.

According to Merrill Vanderslice, AMA Pro Racing Director of Competition, the proposed rules for 2006 are straightforward. The recommendation to lower displacement has been discussed for the past couple of racing seasons and it's simply an effort to reduce competitor costs by better aligning the class with readily available, production-based equipment, said Vanderslice. Ultimately it should also result in increased rider participation and greater involvement in AMA Flat Track racing between the various manufacturers. Similarly, the proposed rule to ensure that only traditional, rear-drive motorcycles remain eligible in AMA Flat Track is to prevent emerging technology from unnecessarily increasing costs and being a detriment to the balance of competition.

8. MOTORCYCLIST MAGAZINE NAMES DUCATI 999R BEST DREAM BIKE
Editors at Motorcyclist recognize the Ducati 999R in their annual Motorcycle Of The Year awards.

Cupertino, CA  August 1, 2005 - The flagship of the Ducati model line, the 999R Superbike, was recently named Best Dream Bike and nominated for Motorcycle of the Year by the editors of Motorcyclist Magazine. The 999R is the platform on which Ducati has won four AMA Superbike races in 2005 with factory riders Eric Bostrom and Neil Hodgson. In its September 05 issue, out in early August, Motorcyclist writes, There are more dream bikes out there than sweaty pillows to dream of them on. But if you absolutely, positively have to blow little Billy's college money on a motorcycle, this is how to do it.

Motorcyclist's Motorcycle Of The Year (MOTY) awards have become a staple in the industry, and nomination is limited to only the best new bikes each year. The editorial staff evaluates the bikes annually and each one's merits are discussed in detail. The 2005 Ducati 999R certainly fulfills the dream bike role. If you imagined a bike complete with top-shelf components such as Ohlins suspension, Brembo radial-mounted brakes, Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, carbon fiber bodywork, and Ducati's signature 150 HP testastretta engine you'd have the 999R. Using experience gained from winning eleven of the past thirteen World Superbike Championships, the 999R was reengineered this year specifically for AMA racing and boasts the most powerful street-legal engine ever installed in a Ducati trellis frame. However, the overall balance, smoothness, and refinement of the 999R makes the torque-filled L-twin the perfect machine for track day fun and the envy of all motorcyclists.

For most people, the 999R truly is a dream, says Ducati North America CEO Michael Lock. This bike represents the best of what we are. It is the most exotic piece of two-wheeled machinery money can buy. It contains the technology developed racing in the World Superbike Championship and puts it into the hands of regular people who want to live this dream.

10. AMA PRO RACING ANNOUNCES 2005 MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS TEAM
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (July 25, 2005) – AMA Pro Racing announced yesterday that Mike Brown, Ricky Carmichael, and Kevin Windham will represent the United States at the 2005 Motocross of Nations (MXoN) on Sept., 25 in Ernee, France.

AMA Pro Racing Motocross/Supercross Series Manager Steve Whitelock made the announcement at Thunder Valley Motocross Park, round seven of the 2005 AMA Motocross Championship presented by FMF. “Brown, Carmichael and Windham are three of the best motocross riders in the world and are the ideal team to represent the United States. We’re thrilled that they have agreed to participate,” said Whitelock. “We also appreciate that Honda and Suzuki have agreed to provide the equipment and support that will give these riders the best chance of winning.”

Honda will provide support for Brown and Windham while Suzuki will support Carmichael. The MXoN is historically referred to as the “Olympics of Motorcycling” and features three-man teams from around the world. The United States last sent a team in 2003. That team, comprised of riders Ricky Carmichael, Tim Ferry and Ryan Hughes finished second to the Belgian team of Stefan Everts, Steve Ramon and Joel Smets The last American team to win the MXoN included Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Hughes and Travis Pastrana who captured the victory in 2000 at St. Jean d’ Angely, France. From 1981 to 1993 the United States was undefeated winning the prestigious event a remarkable 13 straight times.

Whitelock added that five-time world champion and current Team Makita Suzuki manager Roger De Coster would again manage the American effort. “Roger’s background as both a rider and team manager is unparalleled,” said Whitelock. “There’s no one better suited to lead this team.” Over a ten-year span from 1969 to 1979 riding for his native Belgium, De Coster helped his team win six times (1969, 1972, 1973, 1976, 1977 and 1979). De Coster began managing the American team in 1981.

Whitelock observed that he was glad the American riders and teams saw the value of returning to the MXoN. “Last year we ultimately decided to not field an American team and the reasons and process were well documented,” commented Whitelock. “Our plan now is to put all of that behind us and concentrate on the future. We have three, well supported riders all eager to go to the MXoN and do their best to win. Those are the necessary ingredients for success.”

11. Great News! Media Release from BlueRibbon Coalition
Wednesday July 13, 2005
Great news came in spades today at the BlueRibbon Coalition. BRC's President, Jack Welch reported from Washington, D.C. about his testimony at a joint oversight hearing by the House Subcommittee on National Parks and the Subcommittee on Forests and Forest Health about how federal land management policies have impacted motorized recreational use on federal lands.

Welch said the hearing was powerful and touched on many issues important to protecting recreational access on America's public lands. He was joined by Edward Moreland from the American Motorcyclists Association and Roy Denner from the Off-Road Business Association.

The second bit of great news is that Don Amador, BRC's Western Representative has been invited to testify before the House Forest and Forest Health Subcommittee on the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act (HR -233). Look for a complete update about both hearings from BRC soon.

That's not all the great news from D.C. either. A concerted effort to move new legislation designed to improve the Endangered Species Act was initiated this week. Improvements to the ESA are long overdue. Speaking yesterday in Washington D.C. at a special insiders meeting on how the ESA has impacted recreational access, BRC's Jack Welch noted: "Recreationists have been stung by the unfair use of the ESA and we're here to engage in the dialog on how it can be improved."

The final bit of great news was actually officially announced on Monday. BRC is extremely pleased to announce that The Pep Boys, the nation's leading automotive aftermarket retail and service chain, has donated $5,000 to the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) to support our promotion of the responsible use of public lands by recreationists and off-road enthusiasts.

This is indeed great news, as Pep Boys is one of the nation's top sellers of off-road transportation products. Pep Boys is taking an active interest in supporting shared usage of public lands for its customers, while remaining steadfast in its commitment to preserving and protecting our natural resources. Likewise, the BlueRibbon Coalition works to preserve natural resources for recreational use and encourages individual environmental stewardship. Commenting on Pep Boys' donation, BRC's Clark Collins said, "The BRC is proud that Pep Boys has chosen to support our efforts to champion responsible use of public lands. This generous donation will increase our ability to educate riders about staying on the trail, respecting the rights of other users and finding win-win solutions to recreation access issues."

Pep Boys also promotes its Ride Smart Program (www.ridesmartprogram.com) designed to provide safety guidelines and tips for personal transportation items, including ATVs. The program emphasizes safe, legal and sensible operation of these products, which is in line with BRC's mission to facilitate equitable and responsible land use.

12. KYMCO USA Expands Utility ATV Lineup With MXU 150 and MXU 300 Shaft Drive
Inman, SC KYMCO USA, exclusive USA distributor of KYMCO brand scooters, ATVs and the Venox 250 motorcycle, is expanding its popular ATV lineup with two new models that build on the brand's reputation for utility, reliability and economy. Designed for everything from getting to that special fishing hole or hunting and camping, to carrying equipment and tools around the farm or construction site, these updated models give ATV customers new, expanded choices in the KYMCO line.

“The MXU 300 is our shaft drive offering for more demanding customers,” said Bruce Ramsey, KYMCO USA Vice President Sales/Marketing. “And by replacing the current MXer with an MXU 150, we are further meeting the needs of the growing utility ATV market.”

The KYMCO MXU 300 Shaft Drive follows in the footsteps of the MXU 250, winner of the People's Choice award at last year's ATV Expo. It boasts a more powerful 270cc, 4-stroke, liquid cooled, SOHC engine, rock-solid shaft drive, and a smooth-shifting CVT automatic transmission. The 300 SD has the same package of features that has made the KYMCO MXU so popular, including a backlit digital dash, heavy-duty front and rear equipment racks, front brush guard, dual A-arm suspension, and disc brakes. Larger Kenda Pathfinder tires 22x10-10 rear, 22x7-10 front give this larger KYMCO a substantial 8.25-inch average ground clearance. The KYMCO MXU 300 SD shifter has positive positions for neutral, reverse, and a high/low forward gear. Rugged as the back woods, it is supported by a One-Year Limited Factory Warranty.

The new MXU 150 is economy-minded but built KYMCO-tough and it comes loaded with the same list of hot utility features in a slightly smaller package. The standard MXU 150 includes multi-purpose racks, a forward/neutral/reverse CVT transmission and all-digital dash (clock, mph, trip, fuel, and odometer). Power is provided by KYMCO’s reliable 149cc air-cooled engine, complete with electric start and kick-start backup. Like its bigger brothers, the MXU 150 has a 1 Year Limited Factory Warranty, C.A.R.B. Certification, and a Forest Service approved spark arrestor.

13. NEW PRODUCTS POISE POLARIS FOR INCREASED GROWTH
New All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), RANGER Utility Vehicles, Victory Motorcycles
MINNEAPOLIS, July 25, 2005 - Innovative new products drive the powersports industry, and at last week's national sales meeting in Nashville, Tenn., Polaris continued its tradition of introducing new products in every Division.

The company unveiled more than a dozen new products in its ATV, RANGER utility vehicle and Victory Motorcycle product lines, the largest offering of new vehicles in the company's history. "This is an exciting time for Polaris and its dealers. Earlier last week, we announced our strategic partnership with KTM and now we are introducing the largest fleet of new products in our history," said Bennett Morgan, president and chief operating officer, Polaris. "We have incredible momentum and traction to continue improving our overall business, make it stronger and gain market share in all categories. That's good news for Polaris, our dealers and our customers."

All-Terrain Vehicles Polaris' ATV division is the lifeblood of the company. Representing nearly two-thirds of its overall sales, the division is introducing six new product offerings that address the trail, mid-size, entry and "heart of the market" segments, which will continue to position Polaris as a dominant powerhouse in the industry.

Sportsman 500 EFI - Polaris has added electronic fuel injection (EFI) technology to the Sportsman 500, the world's best-selling 4x4. Polaris now has the largest EFI offering of any ATV manufacturer - a total of four. The Sportsman 500 EFI benefits customers by providing easier starting in extreme weather conditions; it automatically adjusts to altitude and temperature changes with no re-jetting; delivers smooth power at any speed and better fuel economy. The quad also features industry leading independent rear suspension (IRS), Exclusive Lock-and-Ride(tm) accessories and all the classic Sportsman features that make it the world's best-selling 4x4.

Sportsman 450 - "Heart of the market" 4x4s account for the bulk of sales nationwide, and the new Sportsman 450 gives Polaris a strong best in class new entry in the category. With IRS, the Lock-and-Ride accessory system, more horsepower and faster acceleration, the Sportsman 450 will be a strong force in the 400 segment.

Sportsman X2 - Two-up ATVs have become the fastest-growing segment in the ATV industry, and the Sportsman X2 "the most versatile ATV ever" gives Polaris firm footing in the two-rider market. The vehicle transforms from a one- to two-up machine in only 10 seconds, giving riders an option in how they want to ride. The X2 also offers EFI technology, a 400-pound-capacity dump box, Lock-and-Ride accessories, VersaTrac for sensitive as well as rough terrain, and industry-leading independent rear suspension (IRS).

Outlaw - The Outlaw represents Polaris' trail tough, track ready, new high-performance sport quad. Outlaw features the industry's first and only sport quad with independent rear suspension (PRO IRS) in an all-new chassis, which gives riders more speed on the trails and more control on rough terrain.

Sawtooth - The Sawtooth, an entry level value machine, places a 200cc, four-stroke engine in a lightweight chassis. Perfectly sized for young adults over 16-years and women, the fully automatic Sawtooth features shaft drive, full floorboards and steel front and rear racks.

Hawkeye - Two new models for the 300cc segment, the 2X4 and 4X4 Hawkeye is the no compromise, mid-sized ATV. Hawkeye offers riders features previously only available in Big Bore machines like independent rear suspension, Lock-and-Ride accessories, eight- inches of ground clearance and digital instrumentation.

"With the introduction of our 2006 line, we've changed the game with six tough new vehicles that will fill market segments that have been underserved," said Mike Dougherty, general manager, Polaris ATVs. "Polaris has a dominant stable of ATVs, and we expect our new products will help drive increased market share in the coming year."

RANGER Utility Vehicles - The utility vehicle market is growing at a rapid pace. The $1.5 billion industry is growing at a rate of 30 percent annually, and sales are increasing in every region of the country. The Polaris RANGER, the hardest working, smoothest riding utility vehicle on the market, is ideally suited to farmers, hunters and multi-acre homeowners. RANGER is one of Polaris' fastest-growing product lines and 2006 brings exciting new models.

700 EFI RANGER XP - The RANGER XP boasts a 700 engine with electronic fuel injection, a top speed of 44 mph, and 29 percent faster acceleration. The standard XP will be available in Delta Green. A limited edition version will feature a Midnight Red finish, and for hunting enthusiasts, Polaris is offering the 700 EFI RANGER XP in a Mossy Oak camouflage pattern.

RANGER 6x6 700 EFI - With a 700 engine and EFI technology the new RANGER 6x6 has the best traction and payload in the industry. The 2006 model features 47 percent more torque and 33 percent more horsepower than previous models, with a top speed of 44 mph.

Limited Edition RANGER 4x4 EFI - The best selling RANGER in the line now has EFI. This 30-horsepower, 500cc engine, with electronic fuel injection; provides easy starting in extreme weather conditions; it automatically adjusts to altitude and temperature changes with no re-jetting; and delivers smooth power at any speed. "Polaris has built its reputation on industry-leading innovation, and that innovation is demonstrated in each new RANGER model," said Tim DeJong, general manager, Polaris RANGER division. "Integrating electronic fuel injection technology with the best independent rear suspension, the industry's top payload capacity and a high top-end speed makes RANGER the brand to beat among utility vehicles."

Victory Motorcycles
The Victory Motorcycle division is clearly becoming a growth engine for Polaris. Last year, sales were up approximately 30 percent -- driven by he success of the Victory Vegas and Kingpin models. This year, Victory is claimed to be the fastest growing brand in the industry, and the Hammer and Vegas 8-Ball have been major sales successes. Retail unit sales are up nearly 50 percent over 2004 and by 2010, the company expects Victory to be a $300 million business unit. For 2006, Victory is moving toward that goal by delivering new products and innovations that position the brand for continued strong growth.

Vegas Jackpot - A rapidly emerging motorcycle segment in recent years is what Victory calls "Extreme Customs" and the all-new Vegas Jackpot fills that niche to a tee. With such extreme styling cues as radical paint schemes, a color-matched frame, extensive chrome detailing, a lowered rear end riding on a muscular 250mm rear tire - combined with a classic 21-inch wheel up front, a reshaped headlight and more, the Vegas Jackpot provides an adrenaline rush before you even thumb the starter. Powered by a 100-cubic-inch Freedom engine and six-speed overdrive transmission, the bonus is this extreme extension of the award-winning Vegas line gives the styling and performance riders of Extreme Customs expect, while providing the reliability, support and all-day comfort current offerings in this segment don't all provide. Best of all, riders will be delighted to know a true factory Extreme Custom can end up in their garage for substantially less money ($10,000 - $15,000 less) than most of the alternatives.

Ness Signature Series bikes - Arlen and Cory Ness, two of the country's most respected custom motorcycle builders, have again helped to set the Victory brand apart with two new breathtaking Ness Series Vegas Jackpot models. Each has a custom paint scheme, custom seating, drag bars, billet wheels and an extensive list of other Ness-designed details.

New engine & transmission - Victory is upping the ante on its Vegas and Kingpin models by integrating the 100-cubic-inch Freedom engine and six-speed overdrive transmission from the massively popular Victory Hammer bringing new levels of performance to these core Victory models.

"With the strong sales of our current offerings, combined with the excitement surrounding our new bikes, all of us on the Victory team are pleased with the momentum and popularity the bikes and the Victory brand continue to enjoy," said Mark Blackwell, General Manager, Victory Motorcycles. "Delivering quality motorcycles and listening to what our customers tell us is helping to give Victory a growing presence on the roads. It's our goal to continue to surprise and delight riders with the New American Motorcycle. One ride is usually all it takes."

In Other News...
Polaris Industries has marked the first half of 2005 with major business announcements. In June, the company opened its new state-of-the-art product development center in Wyoming, Minn. And last week, on the heals of an announcement that it would purchase a 24-percent stake in Austrian off-road motorcycle manufacturer KTM, Polaris also launched two new programs to help drive volume and make the selling process easier and more profitable for dealers.

The company reintroduced its highly successful Factory Authorized Clearance event, which in 2004 resulted in a successful model year inventory transition for its dealers and generated 48-percent sales increases across all product lines. ATVs led the way with 60-percent growth.

Polaris also announced it will join the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA), which will take the responsibility of customer training away from dealers, allowing them more opportunity to sell products. The SVIA has trained thousands of ATV enthusiasts to ride safely and responsibly for many years, and Polaris' move to join the organization gives customers a single, simple outlet to learn to properly operate ATVs. In addition to training, Polaris, together with the SVIA, will put additional focus on land access and preserving the Right to Ride.  "Rider safety remains our top priority," said Bennett Morgan, President and COO, Polaris. "We look forward to working more closely with other industry partners to continue stressing the importance of safety training and responsible riding."

14. POLARIS INDUSTRIES INC. AND KTM ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Polaris to purchase 24-percent interest in KTM Companies
MINNEAPOLIS, July 19, 2005 - Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE/PSE:PII) announced today that it will purchase a 24-percent interest in Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM Power Sports AG, formerly known as Cross Holding AG, and partner with KTM on several important strategic projects. The goal of the partnership is to strengthen the competitive position of both companies and provide tangible benefits to customers, dealers, suppliers and shareholders.

During the first phase of the partnership, each company will continue to be run separately, but will work together on several specific cooperative projects involving new product development, engine technology sharing, distribution, manufacturing, and purchasing. This initial phase of the partnership will last approximately two years and, in addition to the ooperative projects, will involve the following:

Polaris will purchase a 24-percent stake in KTM Power Sports AG from an institutional investor for 66.6 million Euros or approximately $80 million funded from Polaris' existing bank line of credit arrangement. This represents approximately a 12 percent discount to the market value of the shares purchased reflecting the size of the block of shares purchased and the fact that the shares are thinly traded. KTM Power Sports AG (formerly known as Cross Holding AG, which is publicly traded on the Vienna Stock Exchange under the symbol CRO), owns and controls KTM Sportmotorcycle, a leading European manufacturer of motorcycles with fiscal year 2004 revenue of over 400 million Euros. Over its history, KTM has earned a reputation for providing class-leading, ready-to-race, off-road motorcycles, and recently has entered the on-road motorcycle segment. This transaction, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval, is expected to close during the third quarter of 2005. The actual number of shares purchased and the purchase price are subject to reduction depending upon the number of shares of KTM Power Sports AG outstanding on the closing date.

Polaris CEO Tom Tiller is expected to be named to the KTM Supervisory Board after the closing date of the transaction. KTM CEO Stefan Pierer is expected to be named to the Polaris Board of Directors after the closing date of the transaction. The investment in KTM Power Sports AG is expected to be neutral to calendar year 2005 Polaris consolidated earnings per share and somewhat accretive for the full year 2006. There are no changes in employment anticipated at either company as a result of this announcement.

Additionally, Polaris and KTM Power Sports' largest shareholder, Cross Industries AG ("Cross"), have entered into option agreements which, under certain conditions in 2007, either Cross may purchase Polaris' interest in KTM Power Sports AG or, alternatively, Polaris may become the majority shareholder of KTM Power Sports AG. In the latter case, the majority of the purchase price to Cross will be settled in Polaris shares and Cross will become a significant shareholder in the combined Polaris/KTM organization. Cross' principal shareholders are KTM CEO Stefan Pierer and KTM CFO Rudolf Knünz. The exercise price under both option arrangements are based on market-based, predetermined pricing formulas to be derived from operating results of both companies in 2007.  "I believe this partnership will provide substantial benefits to both Polaris and KTM, and both company's dealers, employees, suppliers and shareholders for many years to come," said Tiller. "We have long admired the success of KTM, and are excited about working together to strengthen both companies. Polaris can benefit from KTM's substantial experience in motorcycles, an outstanding brand, leading technology, and a solid manufacturing presence and dealer network in Europe. Moreover, this relationship complements nearly every aspect of Polaris' five-year strategic vision, which is a roadmap to make Polaris the most dominant brand in the powersports industry. Further, we believe the two-step approach we have outlined significantly lessens the cultural and execution risk associated with a partnership of this magnitude." "In essence, this partnership combines the substantial strength, passion, and success of two industry leaders with very similar, successful 50-year histories, but who do not compete directly today. It is a very natural fit for both of us," added Tiller.

Mr. Pierer commented, "Polaris and KTM complement each other very well, and we are very excited about our new relationship. By joining forces, we believe we can strengthen KTM's presence in North America, reduce our production costs, spread our development costs over a larger base, and substantially accelerate our entry into the ATV business. We also look forward to sharing both chassis and engine technology with Polaris. The KTM and Polaris teams should work well together - both companies are driven by innovation, passion, and demand success."

16. TRIUMPH ANNOUNCES 2005 FINANCIAL YEAR RESULTS
Triumph Motorcycles today announced strong sales and continued positive growth for the 2005 financial year (July 04 to June 05). The statistics speak for themselves, with global sales up 29% on 2004. UK sales have risen 10% in a static market, North America sales increased by 40%, both France and Switzerland saw rises of 43%, Japan rose 34%, Italy 25% and Germany is up 18%.

Triumph has grown by 25% per year for the last two years, proving the brand turnaround initiated after the factory fire in 2002 is on track. Tue Mantoni, Commercial Director at Triumph comments: "A significant contribution to our growth in sales stems from the successful launch of new products and the work we have done with our dealers. These are the most important areas to the consumer and it's through these two crucial touch-points that we communicate the brand and make the change in our business visible".

With the launch of several new models over the last year, including the Speed Triple and Sprint ST, the model range is significantly more focused and comprises distinctively designed machines with lots of character.

A concrete change is that all new bikes going forward will have either the parallel twin or the iconic triple engine, something that's unique for Triumph in the motorcycle market. Mantoni comments: ?Triumph is all about individuality and riding something that not everyone else has. We have worked hard to define Triumph's identity and the success of our latest models is evidence that the consumers like what we have done".

In several markets, the demand has outstripped the supply of the new models and there are long waiting lists if you want to get your hands on models like the Speed Triple and the Sprint ST. Mantoni comments: ?The fact that you have to wait for your bike makes the ownership experience more rewarding for the people who actually got their hands on one of the first bikes".

Triumph has also worked hard to create a unique retail experience that reflects the Triumph brand, including the launch of a new corporate store design. This bespoke design emphasizes the lifestyle aspect of motorcycling by integrating the display of clothing, accessories, merchandise and the motorcycles themselves. The store design is currently being rolled out to dealers across the globe.

Mantoni clarifies: "For the majority of our customers, the dealership is their primary contact with the Triumph brand. The signals that we send through our dealers and the service that the customer receives define the brand in many ways".

Our growth demonstrates to dealers and customers that we can run a successful and profitable business. This builds confidence in the future for the people who dedicate their lives to Triumph either through their business our through their own lifestyle."

The focus on launching distinctive new products and enhancing the retail experience will therefore remain core to our strategy going forward.

17. KTM 450 EXC Racing’s “VW Motor Sport Edition“ (21.07.2005)
KTM and VW jointly developed the “VW Motor Sport Edition”, a small, exclusive, special series of KTM’s Enduro 450 EXC Racing model.

For Prof. Bockelmann and Kris Nissen of VW Motorsport, the 2005 Dakar Rally was the inspiration for a special series of motorcycle. This off-road model should have a very special design and be offered to the employees of VW’s motor sports department. So Kris Nissen, Dirk and Bert von Zitzewitz began developing the concept of a VW edition on the basis of the KTM 450 EXC Racing bike, in order to then discuss and carry out the project with KTM in Mattighofen. Thus, the “VW Motor Sport Edition“ was born a small, exclusive, special series of the KTM-Enduro 450 EXC Racing.

A total of 18 of these special, ready-to-race motorcycles were produced. Their components consist of the finest equipment from the KTM Power-Parts spectrum, such as large hand guards, front axle bracket, skid plate, fuel mixture screw, machined triple clamps, aluminum tank cover, as well as blue synthetic parts with a unique design by VW Motorsport/Red Bull. The triple clamps were numbered and furnished with the emblem “VW Motorsport Edition”, to indicate the limited availability of this edition. Every vehicle receives a personalized tank cover engraved with the name of the buyer.

On 25th June 2005, the vehicles were then presented to the future owners in Oschersleben in the VW tent of the DTM riders’ paddock by Bert and Dirk von Zitzewitz in a formal ceremony attended by numerous members of the TV and print press corps. Nearly all the riders in the VW Touareg race ordered one of these limited KTMs like rally star Jutta Kleinschmidt, former Dakar motorcycle competitor and third-place winner of the Touareg race in the 2005 Dakar. And of course Prof. Bockelmann, Kris Nissen and Dirk von Zitzewitz each made sure they got a KTM 450 EXC “VW Motor Sport Edition“ too. Every proud owner also received a certificate of guarantee and a commemorative T-shirt from the German KTM Enduro team.

Some of the owners immediately had the license tags they’d brought along mounted on their bikes, so they could take off on their first test ride true to the motto “Ready to Race”...

18. THE NEW DUCATI SPORTCLASSICS ARRIVE IN SEPTEMBER. A TOTAL OF 2000 PAUL SMART 1000 LIMITED EDITIONS WILL BE PRODUCED. THE SPORT 1000 IS OFFERED IN THREE DIFFERENT COLORS.

Borgo Panigale (BO) July 22, 2005 – Countdown for the arrival of the first two new SportClassics has begun. Ducati’s newest family captures the essential beauty and timeless style of the original Ducati sport bikes of the 1970’s. Confirming the announcement made at Motogiro competition in June, production of the Paul Smart 1000 Limited Edition will start in September, immediately followed by the Sport 1000.

Created as a tribute to Paul Smart’s legendary 1972 victory at the Imola 200 Miglia and the timeless style of his silver Ducati 750 Imola, only 2,000 examples of the Paul Smart 1000 Limited Edition will be produced. Characterized by its Classic Silver bodywork and Sea Green frame, and quality high performance Ohlins suspension, it is a motorcycle that allows riders to capture the verve and style of the original, while still being a motorcycle that lives–up to  today’s standards of sport bike performance.

Also ready to make its debut appearance is the Sport 1000, now available in three different colors. Added to the Burnt yellow with black racing stripe, reminiscent of the 750 SuperSport of 1973, are a Ducati Red with white stripe, and a Black with white stripe version. With the bold Café Racer style and essential beauty of the original Ducati Sport 750’s, they deliver modern Ducati performance and road-going savvy.

The classic inspiration and performance of the Sport Classics doesn’t end with the motorcycles. The style that makes the bikes so appealing has been applied to an extensive range of accessories and apparel. Performance exhaust systems to components of extreme materials like titanium and magnesium, plus classically styled riding gear emblazed with iconic logos of Ducati, will be available for the launch of the new family.

19. KYMCO USA to Sponsor Femmoto at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Inman, SC — KYMCO USA, exclusive North American distributor of KYMCO brand scooters, ATVs and the Venox 250 motorcycle, has signed on as an official sponsor for the 4th Annual Femmoto track day to be held October 1st and 2nd at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Day 1 of Femmoto is a women-only motorcycle event where lady riders have the opportunity to experience the track in a “non-testosterone environment.” Demo bikes, including multiple KYMCO Venox 250’s, will be provided for all participants, along with instruction for novice riders.

After the novice and intermediate session on Saturday October 1st, Femmoto will host a combined track day for women and men who bring their own motorcycles on Sunday October 2nd. A banquet sponsored by Moto-Euro magazine concludes the festivities. Host hotel is the Sahara Hotel and Casino.

Femmoto is the creation of Bonnie Strawser, who, along with Monte Lutz, operates the major U.S. track day organization, Sportbike Track Time. “We are very excited that KYMCO USA will be participating in Femmoto 2005 with the Venox 250,” said Bonnie Strawser. “The KYMCO Venox is the kind of stylish entry-level motorcycle that women have been asking about for years.”

Light in weight and easy handling, the KYMCO Venox 250 has the look of a big cruiser with plenty of visual appeal. But this first-timer bike doesn't skimp on features, with its powerful 250cc V-twin 8 valve DOHC, liquid-cooled engine, 5-speed gearbox and front disc brakes. A beautiful finish with plenty of chrome and available accessories rounds out this already complete package. Dependability is built in, and KYMCO backs the Venox 250 with a two-year factory warranty. “It's a great opportunity to be associated with Sport Bike Tracktime and Femmoto,” said KYMCO USA President/CEO Eric Bondy. “The event has certainly proven its popularity, and we expect the Venox 250 to be popular with female riders.”

Last year's Femmoto brought 100 women from all over the U.S. and Mexico to the Spring Mountain Motorsports Park in Pahrump, Nevada. The organizers did more than simply provide participants with an enjoyable day. At the conclusion, Femmoto and Sportbike Track Time proudly presented a check for $3,500 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This year the event has moved to the much larger Las Vegas Motor Speedway (an official NASCAR venue), and it has still sold out early with a waiting list of riders hoping to get a canceled slot.

20. Triumph Motorcycles Launches ABS Sprint ST
PRESS RELEASE  July 12, 2005
Triumph is pleased to announce that the ABS version of the Sprint ST will be available in US dealers this September. Launched earlier this year, the Sprint ST has redefined the sports touring class with a breathtaking package of distinctive styling, sophisticated design and class-leading performance. Now the Sprint ST has been further enhanced with an ABS option.

With the tremendous advances made in the performance of brakes, tires and suspension over the past decade or so, most riders only use around 70% of their bike's braking ability. ABS is a great way of improving this statistic, particularly when faced with a panic situation or when riding  on wet roads.

Many riders feel an ABS system distances the rider from his machine but this really isn't the case, says Triumph's New Product Development Manager, Ross Clifford. The system is carefully designed to be unobtrusive and to retain all riding sensation and feel. It simply adds to the rider's control under hard braking. In particular, riders dislike the idea of a system that dictates the balance of braking between front and rear and for this reason we haven't used a linked system. The front and rear brakes on the ST work independently.

The ABS system used on the Sprint ST is similar to the technology now standard on most cars. The system operates at 100 calculations per second and can sense the exact moment the wheel is about to lock up. It then releases the brake a fraction of a second to allow the wheel to regain grip before reapplying the brake. The switch controlling this process operates for a mere four milliseconds modulating the braking pressure to achieve optimum breaking. The ABS Sprint ST is available in Aluminum Silver, Caspian Blue, and Sunset Red and is has an MSRP of $11,899.

22. AMA SUPERMOTO CONTINGENCY POSTINGS TOP ONE MILLION DOLLARS
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (June 16, 2005) – Over one million dollars is up for grabs as part of the AMA Supermoto Championship contingency program announced Todd Eagan, AMA Pro Racing Supermoto Series Manager on Thursday.

“To date, $1,014,450 has been posted and we expect more companies to come on board with additional support,” said Eagan. “Honda, Husqvarna, KTM and Yamaha lead the way among the OEMs and Brembo, Leo Vince, Marchesini, Maxxis, Michelin and Shoei are leaders among aftermarket companies.”

Per event contingency as well as championship bonus money is available in all three classes of AMA Supermoto competition including the premier Supermoto (450cc) class as well as support classes Supermoto Unlimited (490cc+) and Supermoto Lites (250cc).

“Interest in AMA Supermoto continues to gain momentum in the United States,” said Eagan. “Due to strong demand we added the Supermoto Lites class for four-stroke 250cc machines this year and we’re beginning to see more production supermoto motorcycles coming to market. Initially, it seemed that only the European brands were interested in this category but with Suzuki’s introduction of its DR-Z400SM supermoto model it’s clear that the Japanese manufacturers have taken note, too. This bodes well for the future of supermoto racing in the United States.”

The 2005 AMA Supermoto Championship season began at Road America on June 4. Thierry van den Bosch and Doug Henry split wins in the dual Supermoto finals with David Baffeleuf and Mark Burkhart winning the Supermoto Unlimited and Supermoto Lites classes, respectively. Travis Frassetto was the winner of the Honda Red Riders Jr. Supermoto Challenge. Round two of the championship is scheduled for July 30 at USA International Raceway in Shawano, Wisc.

24. KAWASAKI-SUZUKI ALLIANCE ENTERS NEW PHASE
The "alliance" announced in August 2001 between Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., (KHI) a04nd Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) will now focus on potential exchanges of indirect resources, rather than on direct OEM product exchanges. It was originally formed as a mechanism to allow sharing of parts sourcing, platform production of OEM units, and joint development of new products.

Following a successful three-year arrangement, both companies have considered factors related to sales volume, profitability, customer reaction, influence on brand image, and competitiveness of each OEM product. The two brands have jointly agreed that more focused, independent development activity will serve to further enhance their respective brand identities with their loyal customer bases.

This modification to the alliance relationship will mean that OEM product sales will be discontinued, and the following models will not be available from Kawasaki, effective with the 2007 model year:

KLX125A/B, KSF80A, KSF50A, KDX50A
KHI product development has been accelerated during the initial alliance phase, as more resources were able to be placed against brand-specific product needs. The company will continue to develop new models to replace some of the above. Meanwhile, the KSF400A will still be produced for model year 2007.

Achieving significant savings in development resources was a primary goal of the relationship with SMC, and having done that, KHI is in a stronger position for investment spending against future product introductions. The market environment is such that expectations for new technologies and their product applications are ongoing, and KHI is intent on continuing to deliver excellence in these areas.

The alliance with SMC, and its benefits to our dealers, will be reviewed on a regular basis. Joint activity will be determined based on careful review of the effect it will have on both retail profitability and customer loyalty.
