Electric Shift: Torrance, CA - American Honda has
revealed an all-new ATV with Electric Shift Program (ESP) at the Honda Dealer Convention
in New York City, Thursday, September 18, 1997 - the Honda FourTrax Foreman ES.
The never-seen-before technology on the ESP features
push-button upshifting and downshifting. Mounted on the left handlebar, the ATV is shifted
simply and precisely with the push of the left thumb. No more clutch and shift levers to
worry about. Combining the ease of an automatic transmission and the positive action of a
manual transmission, the Honda ESP system even adjusts the speed of the shift to match the
rider's driving style.
The Foreman ES comes with all of the great features of the
new Foreman S - 432cc of power from the largest displacement ATV engine ever put in a
Honda, electric carburetor heat for excellent driveability, 25 inch tires for good ground
clearance, and a tough, easy-to-read digital display with readouts for the speedometer,
resetable odometer, tripmeter, and hour meter/clock.
The Foreman ES is scheduled for release in March, 1998 -
just after the Foreman S release in January. Prices will be announced at a future date.
